Do a search on here cause I think you got your casting #'s confused. 823's= L92 heads and the 821's are the ls3 heads.

The 821's were a better casting head. They are not as rough of a cast. LS3 heads will have the hollow valves. L92 heads will not.

Pulled from the Corvette forum:
The chamber size is identicle as per the net static compression for a 6.2 liter. All the L92's -all castings-are made for the L92 block from the escalade which is 4.065 inches and is the same block in the 08 corvette. I wouldnt be surprised if the difference is the valve job for use with the hollow stem valves on the LS3. Being hollow stem wouldnt require a different valve job but the need for better performance may have mandated the addition of such a finish to justify a higher core price from GM as they did in 2001 with the introduction of the 243 head. Good input you have there though.

West coast cylinder heads (I was on the phone for 30 minutes yesterday with Richard---very helpful and informed man) and he stated there is no difference once ported with any of the castings. All will make about the same power even out of the box. There are advantages and disadvanteges to all castings in his opinion.

t racing... your an idiot first off the truck oil pan is on there to keep the motor sealed... second off a L92 short block is a 6.0L... there is a L99 which is a 6.2L...Im pulling the heads off this weekend so i can take pics of the pistons...
and yes i know 823 heads are considered L92 heads but they have been using 823 heads on a bunch of LS3 motors... my buddy has a 2010 camaro and has 823 casting heads and they are the stock heads that came on the car and have the lighter valves in them... so next time please dont come in here and tell me what I am selling because i am very well aware of what i have up for sell... thanks

823 heads come on L92 engines. An L92 is a 6.2 while the LY6 is the 6.0. That is definitely an L92 engine with a new timing cover. An LS3 engine should have the flywheel dowel in the crankshaft.

Don't L92s have the vvt and possibly afm stuff while ls3s do not ever have either? This one doesn't look to have the vvt front cover.

I believe originally that the 823's were L92 heads and 821's were LS3. SAME HEAD JUST DIFFERENT VALVES as been said here about 5 times. Im sure GM has now began to put whatever valves in whatever castings depending on what vehicle the engine is going into.
