RHS new 225 heads any info?
anyone heard any thing about these?
they don't have any flow numbers on the site or have specs like how thick the deck is...
still searching for heads for my turbo 347. and seen these. might look more into running a set and at the price i could afford to get a good port job on them if needed..
it does say "clean cast" as cast heads...
would they be any good for a turbo motor????

I second that. bad advice. If you are going to do, do it right the first time. Stock casting heads are good for some but there is a point where they are not enough

Don't get me wrong, I am a proponent of an aftermarket head knowing the deck is thick enough for a boosted application but there are many guys running stupid boost on a factory casting 317 heads.

I hear ya on both of those but there are guys running 25+ psi on 317 truck heads, so at what point can you say that a stock deck is not enough?
Don't get me wrong, I am a proponent of an aftermarket head knowing the deck is thick enough for a boosted application but there are many guys running stupid boost on a factory casting 317 heads.

Super high boost, maybe thats an issue, but you wont be running much boost to get 9's in a fbody

Agreed stock decks will work to a point but you are giving up alot. ask them what there tune up looks like? low timing to keep the water in. If you can afford it get aftermarket castings. almost every combo has compromise somewhere, The OP didn't state his goal. so I was just stating that there is a difference and some power will be compromised.

I believe his goals are 9s or 140mph? Built 347 and a 3900lb car. Atleast mine was 3900lbs with a 4l60 and a tc turbo. He's using a 4l80 and a mid frame turbo, so ill guess maybe closer to 4000lbs.

I just went by the sig notes...but yes if you can afford it, go for the aftermarket casting. Also better to be safe and over engineer it when possible. I just know of a few combinations making enough power to run 9's using stock GM heads and not having issues. Just not sure of the budget on the project.
I totally missed the goat part... it may be a 4000lb ride. Getting 9's is gonna be much more difficult but still doable. My buddy's 4500lb truck with twin 62mm stock bottom LS2 317 head setup went 130mph on his lower boost tune and it has made over 800whp on the mustang dyno and T56 thru 14 bolt, but never ran at the full power level. He's on E85 and only on 11psi boost too. Hasnt pushed water. That may get a 4K lb ride in the 9's at close to 140. Just gotta keep the timing down to control cylinder pressures. Eliminate some of the quench in the chambers to also control pressure rise on ignition

Thanks guys. I'm set on an aftermarket casting do sure. So that has been put in the budget for sure. Looking at about 3000. I really didn't see the pro elite heads for ls stuff will have to look again
Kyle hit it on the head. 347 with midframe and 4l80. Hoping to keep it under 4k lbs.
I wont. Be happy if it don't go 9s but I will be looking to push it to see where she will go!

Very true on all accounts, but that is true for pump gas or race fuel. Maybe he can chime in and tell us if he is or not. E85 allows you to put the timing back in because of its cooling properties.
Since he has posted that he is going to be using an aftermarket head, it pretty much negates what we are discussing for him.

I'll be running. Pump and meth. E85 hard to find where I'm goin to be. Sorry I havent posted much. I'm goin through some training preparing for Afghanistan. So I get here when I can.
