Default 2000 ss camaro vs 04 BMW M3???

So my new neighbor has a 04 BMW M3 with exhaust and intake. Ive got a 2000 ss camaro 230/236 cam, LT headers and rebuilt 4l60 with a shift kit. We did a little pull the other day in a two lane road that merges into a single lane so he caught up next to me an nodded at me and we both got on it. I pulled to about half a car length an he had to slow down to pull in behind me. If we could have actually raced side by side would he be able to get me???

With that cam, your car should be mid 12's, his car will be low 13's

Without a stall, he might get you. But once you throw a stall in there it will be an animal. Go with a 4K stall..

The e46 m3's are decent performers, but in a straight line with your mods you should pull away pretty easily. with a stall it would be even more of a kill.

You'll have no problem beating it, I hung dead even shift for shift with my friends 06 M3 in my Speed6 which was a 13.7 car at best. Your car is not a 13.7 car so you should walk him at half throttle...

a stock LS1 will edge out a E46 M3, with your mods you should be rolling out on him pretty good

I don't think you're giving it quite enough credit... They run low-mid 13s stock. OP, you got this one.

LT's and a Cam? Your car should kill him in a straight line. I bet his can corner better, but that's it.

Idk how the e43's react to the tune and exaust mod, but i would think the cammed ls1 would pull it pretty hard.

MPG I don't know a ton about fbodies, but enough to state confidently that if you take this GTO thread's numbers and add 1-2 city and 2-4 hwy mpg then you are in LS1 Fbody mileage territory. This thread hasn't been updated in awhile, for instance I now have a bigger cam, SS3600 stall converter and a 402 stroker- the combo now gets around 17mpg average.

Ive had a E46 M3 Manual in the past and put every bolt on on it. The only mod that makes any difference on that car are headers with no cats. The exhaust meaning muffler and intake makes very little difference at all. With the combination of all those you can really feel the difference with the headers no cats. The most i pulled to the wheels is 310rwhp and 249rwtq. It was a great car but till it gets up there in speed and rpms and it just didnt match my driving style, just didnt like to rev that high to feel the power. Either way its street racing op and as said above you really need a stall.

Yes. 3600-4000 will be best for your car and get a good brand (yank, circle D, vigilante, etc). Also get a transmission cooler.

cammed ls1 and stock stall = turd, all bark no bite

cammed and properly stalled ls1 = viscious

I wouldn't go for more than a 3600 stall, and maybe a 3200 stall if you drive your car alot around town. Tons of heat will require a good, big, electric fan equipped trans cooler also. Big stall converters are a pretty hardcore item. And you better have good sticky tires or it's all a waste of money.

I need my 3600 stall with the cam I got now, and could legitimately use a 4,000 stall. But stock cam? was overkill. My first cam upgrade was a midrange cam and the power was insane, though it hurt the daily driverability of my car IMO.
