Default Help me spec my cam or pick one

I need some help deciding what size cam I should have made for me. I have a deal to get a cam of my choosing from comp. I also would like everyones input on the different lobe selections. I am considering having it on LSL lobes. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

Also, everyone please keep the opinions about a comp grind or lobe. Thanks

2001 WS6 A4
Stock- LS6 intake, 241 heads and 3:23's
Pacesetter LT's and Dumped ORY
98mm FTP lid
85mm MAF

Awaiting the cam

TSP ported LS6 Oil Pump
Rollmaster Double Roller Timing Set
Comp Hardened Chromoly Pushrods 7.400"
Patriot Dual Golds .650" Valve Springs w/ Ti Retainers new
Seals, seats and locks
PTC 3600 Stall
TCI Flexplate
All ARP hardware

Also Spohn Solid Motor Mounts and Prothane Tranny mount

I do currently Daily Drive my car but that will be changing within the next 6 months. I want a very stout powerful street car, yet not a complete nightmare to drive. Here is two that were suggested to me

230/236 600/610 110 LSA

or

231/235 .617/.621 110 LSA

I want a broad power range and shift by 6800 rpm. Also a very lopey idle and sound. The tighter LSA's were suggested to keep the power band lower in the rpms

Lemme know what you guys think about cam specs, lobes and if anything besides the cam is missing for my swap.

Thanks let the games begin

Not sure if this helps but I'm looking at the comp 231/239 113 lsa, has a broad power band and strong mid range, seen some good results with it and also looking at the next step up the 235/243 113 lsa with a broad power band, was looking at the first one when was a 5.7 now iv stroked it to a 383 am Inbetween which of the two, but leaves options open if you do further work later on, I think both are Lsl lobes. Lift is same on both, I think was 617/624 lift.

why not go with something proven off the shelf like a 232/234 XER or MS3?

231/234, intake .617" lsl lobes, and the exhaust .612" lxl lobes. The lxl lobes on the exhaust will help keep the valvetrain noise to a minimum.

How much advance? LSA?

To ss454327... I'm not opposed to getting shelf grind. I just have an opportunity to get a custom comp grind cheap and wanted to get one to opptimize my set up.

Advance, that's totally up to you, I'd go with at least 2*and no more than 4*. The LSA 110 up to 112, up to you.
I'd stick with recommended lsa or very close to it.

I'm sure that their are plenty of people on here that could help you size your cam, but I *strongly recommend just giving a cam manufacturer a call and give them details about your setup/expectations. They will help you select a perfect size cam to best fit your current setup. Just a suggestion.

Are you flycutting the pistons? That's a lot of lift on the exhaust side...

Wasn't planning on it. I've seen other cam only LS1's running the same or larger exhaust lifts with no need to fly cut.
