Default Drive shaft center support bearing/bushing

I bought the car new in 05, it's got 30K on it..Lately it seems that on take off I could feel like the universal joints hitting the floor slightly......so....I get the car up in the air today and noticed that the center support bushing had about a 1/4" slop in it......called the dealer (dealer only part) and was told that it was available only as a complete driveshaft assembly with a parts cost of $1250.............anyone been down that road with any other ideas......

Thanks
Ken

go aftermarket do a one piece driveshaft shop makes one that is a direct replacement for a good price but if you want to have some options look into g-force they have alot of good shafts

Got the same problem with mine. Its probably better to try asking on ls1gto.com . I am going to inquire about mine soon, {hardly drive it}, I heard there can be some play in there normally.

Are you hearing like a clunking sound? If so it might not be the driveshaft can be the friction modifier in the diff oil is gone/worn out so you should drain the diff and put in some new gm 75w/90 synthenic gear oil that has the FM already pre mixed and it took away my clunking and loose feel/noise.

Same thing happened to mine. I was lucky and it didn't happen until just over 100K miles. Ordered a one piece from the DSS too. Ill never pay 1250 bucks for a stock drive shaft from the stealership and a used one from a junk yard will prob just have the same prob shortly after installing it. I mean yours happened at 30K so why buy used.

I just replaced a friends driveshaft with a one piece for the same reason. He ended up getting a 3.5 inch aluminum one from the driveshaft shop. It was actually a very nice piece. It fit great and there wasnt any vibration.

$1250 is crazy IMO. I think he paid 600-700 for his and its built to handle 800hp. Cheaper and stronger... its the only way to go. I was very impressed with it.

I have to say the DSS has great support. I bought one of the early ones back in '06. I had an issue with the adapter loosening this year and 5 years after I bought it they sent me upgraded parts to fix the issue.

That's good to know since I have one waiting on me for when I get home. So many new car parts I've bought over the last three months just sitting in my dads shop for the next month. How has that adapter plate been working out for you? I've heard a couple people bash on them but its people that don't have them just making assumptions about them. I went that route because of how easy it looked to install that way.

This is my car we did this in, and I love the 1 piece over the stock 2 piece all day long! Fit is great and is a quality piece.

THe adapter plate worked well for us simple install when we removed the complete cat back system. Very straight forward to install.
