Hey all,

I've seen most of the tire threads but curious as to what the best front tire size would be on 17x9.5" wheels for Auto-X and other good handling situations. Currently I have 245/45R17's up front with some 315's in the rear as I enjoy traction :)

Thanks!

Going to 18" wheels will get the top tires at the required diameters:

275/35-18, 9.5" wheel, 25.6" tire diameter, 5 top street tires, 5 r-comp tires

265/40-18, 9.5" wheel, 26.3" tire diameter, 3 top street tires

275/40-18, 9.5" wheel, 26.7" tire diameter, 2 top street tires, 2 r-comp tires

Well, this is probably the one:

275/40-17, 9.5" wheel, 25.7" tire diameter, 3 top street tires, 4 r-comp tires

The best would be the widest tire you you can possibly fit on the rim. I don't believe going by the book. Also the stickiest tire you can afford. Hoosier A6 or Kumho V710 would be my choice.

consider sticking with the same size tire on all four corners. You may run into understeer/oversteer issues otherwise.
