Help pick winter mod
I planned to do a 9" rear with 4.11 gears this winter. I recently decided to shorten the axles by 3" when I do this. That also adds all new wheels and tires to the equation.
I'm not a huge fan of TT wheels and ccw's cost an arm and a leg.
Got to thinking tonight and I may just cam the car this winter instead. What do you all think?
The class I race in requires a tire with tread wear of 160+, so i won't be running slicks.

unfortunately i agree with you guys. i was only looking at the cam because i could do it for about half the price of the rear and my winter funds just took a little hit.

and either way, if i had a 9", i would want a wider rim than my snowflakes.
we will see what happens. I will keep saving and if i can make the rear work, i will, if not, i will look more into the cam.
if im going to be paying upwards of 3k for the rear, im going to get it the way i want it the first time, and id prefer it shortened. =\

Nothing at all. It just adds the cost of new wheels to the project. And the replica wheels I wanted were cheap. They don't have custom backspacing for those. So the wheels I was looking at just made this project twice as expensive if I go that route.

Either way I wouldn't put a DR on my snowflakes. I just like the look of a narrowed rear and the deep dish. And it's minimal but cutting off 6" of solid axle lightens the rear a little. Mainly looks

I just think it would be a lot of fun on the street. And like I said I'm required to run street tires (no radials) for the class I'm in. So I know all about the high speeds and ets that don't match

i have nothing against the s60. just for the price, the MWC comes with a torque arm and tunnel brace with DSL.
a lot of the additions are included too. like a drain plug and the lca relocation brackets

I'm in the same delima as you this winter. There are other wheel options out there. If you want something cheap a set of jegs or summit wheels would work. They come with a lot of backspace options. I'm with you though, you may as well shorten the rear from the start otherwise you will regret it later.
