What heads for my turbo 408?
Title pretty much says it. What heads should I run on my turbo 408 motor? I was originally planning on running some 317s, but after putting new valves and a valve job and cleaning them up it is going to cost ~$1000. I'd rather have a thick deck set of heads that I don't have to worry about blowing up. The motor will see 900+whp. Budget is a concern, but I do want this motor to run forever.
The shop recommends AFR 225s, aren't these too small? What other heads would work well?

my trick flow 235's would actually work great and save you a small fortune over new! just depends if 64cc is in the range you need compression wise.
otherwise, if guys can make 900rwhp+ on 317's, than i wouldn't worry at all about the runner size of the 225's, i'd say take em. Your hp goals are easily attainable with them!

I've been looking at Patriot Performance's CNC ported LQ9 heads. Aside from the obvious (cnc) they have 72cc chambers to lower compression, and aren't that bad price wise. You can also get different valve sizes if you prefer.

Thanks for the feedback.
PRAY HRD, the 235s seem nice, but I think your price is a little high. I'd rather kick in the extra $500 and get a new set.
bmech211, The Patriot CNC'd heads caught my interest a while ago. The problem is that they are stock castings and have a thinner deck. My shop doesn't want to push a stock casting past 800whp.
As far as compression ratio goes, with a 70cc head I should be around 8.5:1, with a 66cc head I'd be around 8.8:1.
I need some suggestions. On the 408 cube motor, would it be better to run AFR 225s or AFR235s? What is too big? I was leaning towards the 235s, but the shop owner thinks I should stick with 225s.
Are there other options besides the Patriot CNC'd heads and the AFRs? What are others out there running with FI 408s?

I will be running as cast LSA heads with ls3 hollow intake valves and LY6 inconnel exhaust valves with a dual valve spring They will flow way more then a 317 or 243 and wont kill your pocket book either.... id take advantage of the 4 inch bore..
