Default Delayed 2-3 upshift?

I was starting to notice that as my car got hotter especially when at the track the 2-3 upshift..shift.. would not happen at the shift point and it would bang off the revlimiter then shift. It wasn't a problem for a long time and it had been tuned for a long time. Once it cooled down a bit it would nail the 2-3 shift just fine.

I also noticed sometimes it would engage 3rd a little slow and sometimes cause the trans to slip a little when 3rd engaged.

Now my 3rd and 4th gear clutches went out so I need to have the trans fixed or I may just replace clutches..

Here is my question though What would cause this so that I make sure that is addressed and it doesn't burn up the new clutches when I do repair the transmission?

sorry if there is an easy answer in a search, I didn't find what I was looking for.

The rebuilt tranny will most likely fix your problem. if it continues then you might have to upgrade to a vacuum controled shift. We had problems with several name built trans that wouldn't shift from the 1-2 and sometimes on the 2-3. I had Rossler put in the vacuum mod and it shifts every time on time at the correct rpm.

I spoke with one builder that does the vacuum modulator, all the others that I have looked into seem to not do the vacuum modulator. I was curious what the reason is for staying away from it...

Upgraded clutch pack, Trans-go HD2, and a good trans tune will do wonders.

If you had the shifter in the 3rd position that will engage the over run clutches. When the trans is sent the signal to command a 2-3 shift there is a delay in the arrival of fluild from having the over run clutches engaged.

X2. In stock form, the over-runs only come in in manual 3rd, during the 2-3 shift requiring additional fluid.

I don't know anything about how automatics work so I don't really know what the over run clutches are or what their function is, I will try to do some research to figure out how they work/what their function is. But apparently I need to leave it in D instead of 3.

I've half considered doing the clutches myself. I have rebuilt everything but transmissions before so i'm still a little unsure of cracking open an auto.
