Default Has anyone ever broke a rocker arm bolt??

Well I have on # 5 exhaust. Broke it flush tonight. And yes, I always tq the bolts to 22lbs, turn it over a few times and then recheck. Not like i haven't done it before . The last time I looked at my rockers was last August when I did my H/C. I thought I broke a valve spring and droped a valve from the sounds that were coming from the engine. Isn't there ARP rocker arm bolts?

The most bolts I have read breaking were when people were swapping springs. I think they were using a different bolt though. ARP should have something, they seem to have bolts for every damn thing related to engines. Did you get the bolt out yet?

I broke one flush last weekend swapping the valve seals on my Patriot heads. Scared the **** out of me, but a left handed drill bit and easy-out was all it took. Bought replacement bolts from GM. If you need some I bought 6 extra.

It broke flush on the way to my friends shop this evening, scared the shiot out of me. I have a complete extra set of valvetrain in my tool chest. I have to find my easy outs. I will work on getting it out tomorrow night. Thank god I finally bought a daily beater a few months back.

I got the broken piece out with relative ease this evening. Easy outs are awsome. It is all back together and running fine now.
