Default 1998 Z28 ReBuild ( heads up )

Hi there gents, my name is evan, lil info i was swapping a ls1 4l60e into a 90 firebird my wife got really ill and no i have to simplify. so i am going with a 1998 camaro z28 t56. the car has a tick in the top half so i expect it to be a lifter or somwhere along those lines.

here is what i plan on doing.

243 or 317's

ls6 valve springs

valve job a lil porting

all new gaskets

arp headbolts

and a rebuilt bottum end that i have sitting in my garage which consistes of

stock internals ,clevite bearings, moly rings, and arp rod bolts, new melling oil pump.

I go to pick up the car on this coming thursday. So as soon as i get it ill post pics then start the tear down. let me no i got a couple questions that i would like to be answered.

1st: Which way is best to pull the motor, from top, or lifting car over motor? (if i do end up lifting camaro is there a thread that walks you through it?)

2nd: what heads should i go with?

3rd: What headers are the cheapest but yet still good headers?

Thanks, E!

Out the bottom is the easiest if you have the right tools.

I'm running OBX headers and they have been flawless thus far (2 seasons).

Cool

So i bought the car,...... thought it was a lifter till it threw a rod through the block. so rebuild is in order. here is the deal

new ls1 block
new ls1 crank
cp pistons
eagle rods
new ported tsp heads (unsure right now)
new fbody oil pan kit

here are some pics of the car, but tranny needs rebuilt as well so.

Bottom is easiest as long as you have a way to lift the car. I used a come a long hooked to the rafters of the garage and just rolled the entire k member out engine trans and all. 2 hrs from the time I drove it in the garage and rolled it back out onto the trailer.
