Default MT dr's vs Hoosiers on a M6

I currently have a set of 27" hoosiers mounted on my drag wheels, but I think they may be a bit too tall for my combination. I bought some 275/50/15 MT drag radials hoping that the 26" tire would work better for me. In back to back testing using my 26" et streets mounted on 16" wheels, from my other camaro, I found that the car had a better 60' better with the shorter tire, and a quicker et.

My question is, how well will the drag radial work on a stick car when compared to a bias ply tire? Will the sidewall be too stiff? Can you launch the car the same way?

My 6 speed car usually dropped 2 tenths going with a bias ply over a radial.

Thanks for the response. Is that due to 60' or tire size?

They were both 26" tires, it was due to the sixty foot. A car will usually MPH a little higher on a radial tire, but the stiff sidewall of a radial doesn't take to the shock of a stick shift launch as well as a bias ply tire.

Hard launching M6s need a bias ply tire. I assume you are referring to a radial ET street though you didn't mention it. There are 2 versions of an ET Street.

Well i've had both dr's in 275/40/17 and they have both worked for me. I think the hoosier might be a little stickier but it doesn't last as long as the mickey. You know what kind of 60fts i'm getting and that is with the Hoosier radial.

So do you think because there is less growth of the drag radial, that contributes to the higher mph? I was also concerned about the weight of the MT's, them being 10 lbs heavier per tire than the bias ply tires.

I don't launch that hard, I slip the clutch to avoid that initial shock. The et street was bias ply. 26/10.5/16

Iv used ET Radials, ET Streets, and the Hoosier Radials. All were a 325/50/15 or a 28x13.5. My best on motor was on an ET Street Radial. Now that Iv put the bottle on it I can not get the car to bite with the radials so I went back to a bias ply. I like the side wall on the Hoosier radials more, but never got a good track prep to see how well they worked. I just changed them out before I had a good track to try them on. I tryed the radial game..its hard but radials are HARD ON ****!! Iv broke a lot of **** because of the hard *** sidewall, just something to think about.

I found bias ply tires better on stick cars as well. I,m using m/t et 26x11.5, how much air pressure are you guys using?

My primary reason for this thread is, I bought a new set of MT drag radials last year but I didn't know how well they would work with my stick car. I definitely need the 26" tire height for my setup. The 27" is just too tall. If I can find a 26" et street, or similar tire, that would probably work best for my setup.
