Well took mine and my Boss's 01 Z06 to dyno last night.
My boss's 01Z with 66k Dyno'd 378/362 with A Callaway intake, LG lontubes/off road X pipe, a B&B Route 66 Cat-back, my Tune, TR6 plugs and new GM wires, and a Monster clutch/flywheel. His car liked 25deg of timing and 12.4 af's. Dyno'd 3 times and all were around that number. His first pull was 371 then we made slight changes to the af/timing.
Next we strapped my car down. Which is a 2002 Z06 with 45k. Mods are a Halltech Venom II, XS power stainless longtubes/ Off road X, Factory Titanium Catback, TR6 Plugs, New GM wires, Stock Clutch, Slight TB porting (not much at all) and my tune. First pull on 25 Degrees of timing and 12.3af was 402.1 hp 369tq. Added 1 degree and pulled a little fuel. Next pull was 404rwhp with 26.5 degrees of timing.

Im giong to be doing a Fast 92, Comp 918 springs, 1.8 rockers to see how much power we can get out of the car. also will try and get some track times asap...

Have you run each other. Id be willing to bet its dead even.

What correction was used on the pulls?
Would you post the Dyno-Graphs?

No we havnt. His car has drag radials and a clutch so it would be really close I'm sure. My pilots are a bit old and fry 2nd from a roll.

This was sae. I dont have the graphs but I will try and get them. I am a tuner at unlimited performance in south Texas and this is the dyno we regularly use. These were just our personal cars. I should be able to get the sheets today if I have time.

Good Job! Keep working on that ls6 and it will reward you. Mine makes 426rwhp (dynojet #'s)....full bolt-on.

Yea I am going to be doing some 1.85 rockers and comp 918s along with a fast 92.

Good numbers. Just out of curiosity, why would you run a colder plug like the TR6? Are you spraying? Seems like you might be better off with the TR55.

I just changed to a ported fast 90 over my proted ls6 mani and picked up 13whp and it carried the power longer so bumped the rev limit to 7000. I have Harland Sharp rr at the stock 1.7 ratio, not really a change but it did seem to run "free'r" at high rpm's. I would be very interested to know what a set of 1.8 or 1.85 would do on a ls6. PM me those numbers or just continue this thread if you would please. You might want to try some timing in the mid range to get tq up. I have a graph of mine before the fast90 swap for comparison.

I am going to be spraying in the future yes.

I will deffinitely update the thread when I do get those in. Also for some reason my car didnt like any more than 26 degrees of timing at peak torque and would have some clatter. Nothing showed on the knock sensors but I heard it a bit. So I backed off a bit until 4500..

I have comp 1:85 rockers in my 01' and made the numbers in my sig through cats. I figure 10 more peak without. While I'm sure the rockers increased my peak numbers, they really woke up the low to midrange torque. I don't have stock baseline numbers to compare to so just going on sotp.

I could see that happening on a 01 ls6 with the smaller cam.

I expect about 7rwhp from the 1.8 rockers/valesprings. Then another 9 from the fast 92 when I do it.

I ported my fast90 and picked up 13whp and 10wtq over a worked ls6 mani. The dyno graph above is with out the fast90

That's one stout LS6 you got there. I was kicking around the idea of having my heads ported/milled this winter and going with a fast90. That would probably put me well over 400 rwhp with the stock cam.

Yes rockers are in. Just waiting to get a chance to get on the dyno. Feel a small seat of the pants.

I'd use the PSI 1511 Maxlife beehive over an unreliable/highly prone to break 918.
Pretty nice #'s out of a stock internal Z. If you want another 15rwhp and faster revving, put a Fidanza alum flywheel in it.

Yes I use to have a ram twin with aluminum flywheel on the last c5 I had. Really liked it.

I have'nt seen any rwhp difference by using a extreme light weight clutch. It will definitly rev faster but no dyno difference.

That is an opinion based off one 1 instance, not a fact.
I've done back to back tests on 10-12 cars over the years swapping in various aluminum flywheels and lightweight clutch setups. It's always made a difference. Taking weight off the back of the crank will always equate to more power being transferred to the rear wheels.

O.k. Just sayin my experiance showed no dyno gain....and my whole clutch, flywheel and pp weights 17 lbs. I went from a 37lb spec with alum. flywheel to my current set-up and saw no definitive difference as far as dyno numbers go. Seems like a fact in my case.
On contrary to what you think, a light weight clutch set-up will not "make power". It will only allow the engine to accelerate faster do to a lower MOI.

Just got off the dyno about an hour ago. Car picked up 6rwhp with the 1.8 rockers and no tuning because my laptop died. I'm sure I can squeeze 2 more hp if i wanted but the car is running very well minus the clutch getting stuck to the floor. Tick master here I come

Hell Yea!! Good job!
It almost looks like it put low to mid range tq in it to.
I wonder if the 1.8 rr rockers would be much of a over my 1.7 HS rr.
These ls6's are awesome little engines. Get a ported fast 90 on it and you'll go over 420rwhp too.

hmmm, I've been thinking about messing with some 1.8 rockers on my Z. I need a little more power for the time being. Might have to do this. Thanks for the update man. Stout Z you have there.

I've got a set of 1.8 rr and a fast 102. I'll be putting them on shortly and redynoing/tuning . I hope it picks up a little more. Hopefully it will go over 430rwhp.

Just to update the thread. I got my 1.8's on and the 102 on of which I'm having some idle issues with, but only when the car is moving really.
The 1.8's made my car sound like it has a cam in it. Should be getting it tuned next week hopefully.

This thread got me wondering... Is 400+ with bolt ons common for the 02+ z06/ls6 cars?
redbird555
06-02-2012, 10:40 PM
its not really common but it does happen with bolt ons. usually z06s are around 380-390 on the high side while ls6 swapped m6 fbodys will usually be 390 ish or even 400 more often than the vettes because the irs isnt soaking up power

06-09-2012, 06:43 AM
I don't think most people have "full" bolt-ons like I do. If they do then 400+rwhp should not be a problem. My car did 399 first pull on the dyno still on the ls1 tune after the ls6 went in and made 405 that day after the tune. That was with poopy mac headers, udp, granitelli MA, airlid.
I've been working to much to mess with this thing. Hopefully I get some time today or tomorrow to mess with my idle issue. Hopefully with I'll pick up 8-10 with these mods.

I figure I would post up my results from yesterday. Changes from the last time was installing 1.8rr and a fast 102(had a fast 90) This fast 102 I port matched the base and blended into the runners. It looked to be much better than the 90 but I don't think it was. The 102 may have cost a little power but I don't think it would be much. The 90 on my set-up would probably be optimal.
These are Dyno Dynamics #'s. For those Dynojet fans it would have made about 431rwhp. There is about a 3.5% difference in the way they read. I made 413whp on the last Dynojet I was on. That was before the fast intakes and the rocker swap.

What's next? I'd like to where a 102 TB and a 100mm MAF with a better clutch and LW flywheel would get you.

It's got all that. It's about as far as you can take a bolt-on engine. my maf is the slp 85mm. I don't know if a 100mm would really do it any good at this point. If I did anything else it would be put the fast 90 back on it.

LOL....go fix your fuel pump. It's definitely something we could swap out and try.
Yours would probally like the 102 better. But you would need injectors and a fuel rail to make it work for keeping.
