Default Good price for C5 brake upgrade?

Im going to be switching to larger rotors but still using the stock calipers and this seems to be the best deal I have found so far.

http://6litereaterdesigns.com/store/...products_id=93

I was just wondering what some other people have paid to compare or if anyone knows of a better place to purchase. Thanks in advance.

That is a C5 rotor conversion, not a caliper. But, it's still a good upgrade because the differences between the C5 caliper and LS1 F-Body caliper is negligible. The larger rotor means more leverage which = increased braking force.

Also, I would steer clear of a generic drilled/slotted rotor.

Okay this is mostly a looks thing i know it does slightly increase braking though. Yeah I was worried about the rotors in that package i would prefere a slotted and dimpled one so i wouldnt have to worry about cracking. Does anyone else sell those conversion brackets that allow you to reuse the stock calipers?

There probably isn't a company out there that makes a good quality slotted and dimpled rotor out there...including EBC. haha Look into a solid rotor or a slotted one. Cross-drilled rotors can go their entire life without an issue, if you get a good quality rotor and don't race on it, though.

Check out www.ws6store.com, they have a very nice kit at a good price that includes are light weight aluminum conversion brackets. Their kit includes everything needed.

I hope that helps,

We don't make one that will work with the factory calipers, just the C5 calipers. I run PowerSlot rotors on the street on my car and suggest them. You'll want to run a C5 PowerSlots if you went this route with the conversion. They run about $90 per side for the fronts. I also swear by StopTech pads, which are $80 for the C5 Calipers and $76 for the F-body Calipers - considerably cheaper than Hawk HPS and HP-Plus pads...and, in my experience, a much better pad. I pushed them all to the limits on the road course when I was working with the magazines and found the StopTech pads would hold up longer than the HP-Plus pads, yet behaved like the HPS on the street and dust levels.

I've also been given great feedback from the StopTech pads from everyone I've suggested them to. Keep in mind, I don't sell these and make absolutely no profit by telling you anything about brakes. haha

i also second the powerslot rotors, had the slotted ones for a while, till my caliper decided to take a dump and drove one side of the pad into it; grooving the rotor pretty well... but worked well in the rain, quick stopping @ any speed, no noise

Tire Rack, my friend. Also, keep in mind that PowerSlot is now owned by Centric Brakes Parts, parent company of StopTech. Upon the acquisition, they changed the metallurgy of the rotors to be the same as StopTech's...needless to say they're very nice now. It's a poor mans StopTech setup when you combine them with their pads, which I will buy once again after these quit.

Glad to hear. Good luck with it. Sorry we don't offer the part you're looking for, but I'm sure this will work just fine!

I just bought the DBA 4000's. They haven't gotten here yet. They are wiper slotted as well. I got them at a very good price from Maryland Speed. I think I might try out the Stop Tech pads with these rotors, invest in some stainless lines and also flush the brake fluid with some fresh stuff as the current fluid in my car has been in there since the factory back in 02'. Should hold me over until I get custom wheels done on the car and get a big brake kit installed.

Let me know how those rotors do when you get them on and get some miles on them if you don't mind, I have some more time to research as this upgrade is going to be a Christmas gift to myself=]

Sure, it might be a while before I get them on because I still have to buy the other stuff yet.

I had DBA 5000 fronts and 4000 rears. They worked quite well for a long time. It wasn't until I went to the track that they started making noise. I still have them, actually. haha

My friend ran the 4000s front and rear on his Mach 1 and they worked very well. The only problems occurred after a track event at VIR when they started to make noise. But, really, that's going to be any rotor when you throw 1,000+ degrees at them. haha The strong point is that they held up and still performed the exact same way as when they were brand new after the fact. Good guys at DBA, too. IMHO, you can't go wrong with either DBA or the PowerSlots.
