5.7 LS1 Wiring Harness Question. Does the year 98-02 matter?
I have a 5.7 LS1 out of a camaro with the aluminum block. 2001 or so.
I am trying to track down and buy the wiring harness and computer.
Does it matter what year, 98-02, wiring harness I buy? I see a 98 harness on ebay for way cheaper than the other years. Makes me wonder if 98 is not a recommended year?
I am installing the engine in my 66 chevelle
Thank You for your help.

You might also consider just getting a harness from a truck....they're usually much cheaper, and you're going to have to "work over" the harness anyway. You'll need to change the injector pigtails out, but no biggie there. You're basically making your own harness, but it's not that difficult. It's more time-consuming than anything else, but a side-benefit is that you'll know the entire harness by heart when you're done....makes any future troubleshooting much easier.

Keep in mind MAF connector will be different along with the injector pigtails stated above. Also, MAP is in a different location. I personally think the F-body harness lays nicer than the trucks do, but then again I think PSI harnesses are your best choice, but Im a little biased.

That's what I was alluding to. If he wants an "Fbody harness", it would not take very much to re-pin the bulkheads and make one out of the truck harness. The only thing it will really "cost extra" is more time and more solder.

Any truck harness? 5.3, 4.8 etc?
I am not planning anything to radical. I basically have the 5.7 short block with cathedral heads and need to track down everything else. Everyone on craigslist seems to want big bucks for camaro stuff. So truck sounds like a good plan. Can I use all the pulleys, brackets and valve covers from a truck motor too?

So using, let's say a '04 6.0l escalade harness. One issue would be to delete the dbw. I assume that means removing those wires and some re-pining (noob alert* "is re-pining simply changing the location of the wires on the connectors to the pcm?)
So in doing that will I be able to use a 411 pcm?
Are there any benefits to seeking out a 411 pcm over maybe a 243 pcm, or do all issues get resolved with the tune since I'm staying dbc?

I would recommend the 411 as they are compatible with both DBC and DBW and are very common PCMs which can be had cheap. You will have to repin the '04 harness (yes, that means relocating pins in the pcm connectors), and obtain the following items: IAC Connector, TPS Connector, Injector Connectors (if switching to EV1 Car stuff), relocate MAP, PCM retainers (Green to Red). Dont forget that the O2s are not PWM in the red/blue harness, so the heaters will have to be grounded.
