What size stall?
Ok, I'm building a LQ4 408 with stock LS3 heads, 10.8:1 compression, pat G cam, victor jr intake (running a carb). Its going in a 1970 firebird weighing about 3500 curb weight i'm guessing. The car has a 12 bolt rear with 3.73 gears and a 28" tire. I plan to drive the car to the track about 25 miles away with a turbo 400 so i have no overdrive and it will be a non-lock up converter. I was thinking a 2800rpm stall? Since i don't really know how stalls work to much. I didn't know if i had a 3200-3500rpm stall how much it would be slipping if i was taching 2600rpm on the freeway. I want the car to be slightly efficient getting to the track and not going to kill my transmission from heat. I'm putting a tranny cooler on the car. Looking to run low-mid 11's Any recommendations are appreciated on the size stall!

I think you will want a high torque multiplication converter for non lock-up street use. My 3200 is around 2.3 torque multiplication which is quite high. This will require less throttle input to get/keep you moving verses a lower torque multiplication.

Most converters don't "flash" over the rated stall unless you have a real heavy car or significant displacement. Standing on the brake (and gas) you won't usually reach the stall rating. At least that has been my experience.
