Midwestern Members - Tuners in SE WI, Chicago area?

Picked up my first Z28 this summer, having a lot of fun with it and want to start adding some more mods. Currently has LT's, ORY, catback, lid, various suspension and brake stuff. I'm planning on doing a cam swap either this winter or upcoming spring and I was wondering who the most popular local tuners are? Speed Inc seems to be one of the few big name shops in the area that I can find, any other shops or individuals you could recommend? Thanks for the help,
Eric

Larry set me up nicely on 2 dyno tunes and I don't have one complaint. Both tunes provided excellent street mannors and driveability!

west bend dyno is good with some good knowledgeable guys. late model throttle also seems good but are extremely hard to get a hold of when you need something.

Hey there... are you in SE WI or NE IL?
I spoke to Jim at Speed Inc. and he is great! He is an excellent guy and he will return phone calls and emails promptly. So if you in IL.. then by all means.. I would also recommend Speed Inc.
If you are in SE WI on the other hand.... then I would recommend Norm at Westech in Silver Lake, WI....
http://www.westechauto.com/
He does it all.. and when I say he does it all.. he does it all... every brand... turbo's... superchargers... retro fit.... he's even done special projects for GM and Chrysler as well.
Westech Project cars: http://www.westechauto.com/index3.html
He is super cool and he does fantastic work...
Good luck...

I ended up going to west bend dyno. Got some 3.90 gears installed and a tune. Should be picking up the car either today or tomorrow. So far everything has gone very smoothly and they've been very helpful with any questions.

That's interesting, i live close to the airport too. I'm by Layton and Nicholson. Just a couple of buildings from the St Francis Police Station. If you're up for it, lets meet up one of these days. I'll introduce you to a couple of other F-Body owners that i usually cruise with.

It was indeed a lot of fun rolling with you guys one last time before the snow arrived. Too bad our cruise was cut short by the stupid Honda Element rear ending my car. Its a good thing the only damage it suffered was a cracked bumper.
On the other hand, i guess the bad tune finally caused my car to blow a head gasket. That's why you saw the white puffy smoke coming out of the tail pipes. The heads were going to come off anyway for a heads/cam swap over the winter so i'm not too bummed out. It just sucks that i might have to have it taken apart sooner than i planned. Otherwise, the coolant in the cylinders might cause the internals to rust.
All the same, i'm very excited about all of us getting together again come spring. I'm curious to see what upgrades the other club members have for their cars.
Joseph.

every shop will have positive and negative comments.
wherever you go, make sure they keep your car overnight so they can tune your start-up and idle airflow.
its easy tuning WOT
idle/street driving tuning is a bitch and a half.
if i were you, i'd start checking out the pcm/diag section for the FAQs and the most common occurrences. Even if you aren't tuning, knowing a little something about what SHOULD happen will let you ask the most questions before committing to a tuner.

Yeah for the bolt on tune I wasn't too concerned with drivability, but when I have them tune for my cam swap I'll make sure I can have one of them ride with me so we can work on the street driving stuff. Here's what they managed to pull out of the car vs the factory tune.

We're going to have a date and time finalized by late February, mid March. I'll post a tread with the details when we do. We did this cruise(http://ls1tech.com/forums/midwestern-members/1478032-cruise-saturday-10-22-milwaukee-wi-kettle-moraine-n-holy-hill.html) before the season ended and it was a blast.

Hey this is Jeff from Late Model Throttle. Found this thread while browsing the internet, wish I had seen it last month before you got you car tuned! We have been difficult to get ahold of in the past, but now have someone answering the phones during the day full-time and still keep late hours at night. I apologize for any inconveniences or frustration in the past. We are running some tuning specials during these next few winter months, check the website or give us a call!
