Default 427 cam question

Going to sleeve a LS 2 block for a 427 build. Planing on using my stock LS 3 heads and ls 3 intake to keep costs down. Using a 243/259 lsa 112 cam on 1.7 rockers and heads are miller .030.
Going in my 03 zo6 vette. Any thoughts on how it will drive(besides idle) and what rwhp and rwtq it will make? TIA.

You should make 550 rwhp.

I think you will be in the 500-515whp range. 550 if you were using better heads and intake. Still going to scream in a c5z06. It looks like i may be doing something like this only with the milled ls7 heads and ls7 intake. I am pretty dam sure i have a rod bearing going out in my c5z06. Post up results veryr interested.

Yes GNFAN, it does stay clean. Lately, I even spend extra time at the car wash keepin her clean.........................

This is the GT 21 cam from Lingerfelter. Anyone running this cam and hows the driveablity? I have heard this cam on YouTube, it sounds really nasty and its in their 66o hp package.

After we drop in the 427 package, the long term plan includes swaping out the LS 3 heads for LS 7 heads (ported) down the road. 550 + rwhp on a na build is my goal. My 03 zo6 is @ 3115 lbs, hoping that new blowers will be having a allergy attack...........

Since you asked...that's one of the worst cams I've seen for the LS3 heads and intake. That cam is a total of 24 degrees larger than I run. Sometimes less is more.

Instead of using the ls2 block, why not use a gen 4 aluminum 5.3 block? They are a hell of alot cheaper.

Thats a good idea, but I already own this LS 2 block. If I can get it sold, I just might do that.

You really should consider getting your LS3 heads ported. The stock springs are not going to work with a new cam - forcing some head work regardless. Another $1K is not always an easy spend but for this build it will provide a good bang for the buck adder.

We offer two proven performers depending on how radical and what drivability you are looking for...

for good street manners our LS7 S Cam:

and somewhat more radical, the LS7 R Cam:

Kevin,
When you put on those new LS 7 heads, is that toddler cam you have losing its pacifier and growing up at all? Just asking................

Every build on the car has focused on excellent drivability over a peak number. A well balanced/maximized approach has always given me both. Don't want to change that model now.

I was talking with Shawn at VA SPeed this week and he repeated "What people will never understand unless they drive your car is how mild it is."

Been shopping.

Choice 1, a 235/247 112 lsa with a 11.5 to 1 scr, 8.77 dcr, overlap @ .050 of 17 and .651 lift both sides on 1.7 rockers.

Choice 2, a 227/239 112 lsa with a 11.5 to 1 scr, .651 lift both sides on 1.7 rockers, dcr about the same. overlap @ .050 of 9 degrees.

Same build as above post. 427 w/ stage 3 LS3 WCCH & LS3 intake.

Looking for the best bang for the buck.

Choice 2 be better for drivablity but will loose on the top. Better mid range torque.

Choice 1, better top end and but mid range not as good, but with a really good tune is driveable.

What would you choose and why?? Kevin, please jump in...............

You wouldn't get the same DCR for both cams. If your calculated DCR for the first cam is correct, the DCR for the second cam would be higher.

Why don't you ask WCCH to custom spec a cam for you.
Both cams are OK but I wonder why the lift is .651 on both sides? are you using LSK lobes?

I think that 114 LSA would work better with LS3 heads.
