Default Cam swap with AFM lifters

I am trying to change out a cam on a 2007 5.3 GMC Truck with AFM- Active fuel mangment lifters. I have a done a with cam swaps for Gen 3 motors with the 5/16 dowels, but the AFM lifters are keeping the dowels from sliding past.

Is there any other ways besdes the pen magnets to old the lifters up? Can I use a wooden dowels and sand them a little bit?

Not sure about afm lifters BUT you are asking for trouble in keeping them in with another cam. Good luck.

Spin the cam. If the trays dont hold the lifters, its time to get new trays anyway.
