Default A little freshening up

I did most of this stuff 8 or 10 years ago and things were starting to show their age.

I'd had several tickets for the headlight covers before an errant shopping cart finally broke one. Somebody liberated the turnsignal covers and the plastic housings were starting to melt because of the DRLs. Somebody backed a trailer hitch into my cheap ebay billet grill, and my headlights had turned all chalky from the sunlight.

I picked up a new pair of black headlights, a new grille, new black turnsignals, some LED lights, an HID conversion for the lows, highs, and fogs, and the mod to keep all the lights on with the high beams. I almost ditched the Knight Rider light, but a light coat of black spray paint and you can't even tell its in there, and still shines just fine at night.

Then, several days after all the new parts went on, we took a quiet drive up Palomar Mountain one night.

There was a rockslide in front of me and I managed to hit a nice big rock. I busted a huge hole in the oil pan, bent the crap out of the K member and tweaked the panhard rod...

So, out with the old and in with the new.

Thats sort of an appearance mod.

I also went ahead and painted my wheels. Chemical clean, sandblast, prime, and paint. Took my time and I'm really happy with the results, they have held up great for the past year

And, because I had the suspension all apart, I decided to redo my brakes, they had a rattle can paint job I did the weekend I brought the car home in '98. Again, chemically clean, sandblast, and this time I used duracoat. http://www.lauerweaponry.com/index.c...ategory_id=612 I love this stuff. I've used it to refinish firearms for several years, and it never ceases to amaze me how tough it is. And, they have a TON of different colors.

I used a red and silver, though in hindsight, just one color might have looked cleaner. I even got brake fluid all over them bleeding the calipers, and the duracoat wasn't even bothered by it.

I snuck a linelock in there
because burnouts LOOK cool

and function checked it in front of about a dozen 10 year old kids

They approved.

Its the UMI mount. I reused the stock mounts because I couldn't get the poly mounts delivered in time. And the car only has 30k miles on it.

I will do them when/if I get around to doing headers and a ORY.

Eagle Alloy, 18x8s. I don't know if Eagle makes them anymore, I couldn't find them online. These just happened to be a cheap ebay find I cleaned up.

Springs are Intrax 2" springs.

The update looks nice. I was never a fan of the headlight covers, the new lights look slick.
