Question Cracked Fikse?

Has anyone else cracked their Fikse wheels? I have cracked two. I dodge every pot hole I see, I cracked one on a bridge on the interstate. Just wondering if this was a common thing or its just me.

No. Have not heard this. Two of mine got bent thanks to a gf who spends more time looking at a phone than the road. I was able to beat them into shape. Where is the leak from? Rim, middle?

Its on the rim, from the very edge down around the bead. Both cracked the same way.

These wheels are strong. But yes it can be fixed. Get a hold if Fikse and check on a replacement part. There is a guy selling parts also in the classifieds(thacher) . Maybe he can help.

Fikse makes (or made) an outstanding product before another company bought them out. As with ANYTHING there will be damage/wear and tear that will develop over time. That's not to say that you didn't get a bad batch, it happens...were the wheels in question purchase brand new or used? I'd contact FIKSE directly, hoops can be purchased below 300 each, that's the plus side to owning modular wheels, if something is damaged you can usually get away with repairing a single part as opposed to an entire wheel. Good luck and I hope it works out for you, for future reference I'd try to resolve the issue with the manufacturer before creating a thread that could turn away potential clients.

I wouldn't be so quick to knock Fikse, or ANY maker of 3 piece wheels, for that matter. From what I've observed, while most, if not ALL of them make a very sturdy wheel center, they all appear to use a similar, somewhat lightweight outer half, or "shell" or "barrel" whatever you choose to call it.

These lightweight shells have a lot of radial strength, such as incurred under hard cornering, but sharp impacts, like a pothole, have a tendency to be really tough on them. Over the years, I've bent a couple of outer shells on the bad roads here in western NY.

Had them on the car a few months (used). Didn't even hit a pot hole. Fikse had a period of not properly heat treating the wheels, and I happen to be lucky enough to get one from that era.
