Default Need yall's opinions

Ok so its that time of the year where my cars due for some upgrades. I'm having trouble trying to decide what set up i should go with. I either want to do a cam/nitrous or a cam/supercharger. For now my mods are heades, cai, and under drive pulley. I have the 2.5 ls6 heads already so the heads will be installed also. Also if i do end up going the nitrous route, the most i'd like to spray is a 150. This will be going into my 05 ctsv. Tell me what would be a faster set up, after going for a cruise in my buddys supercharged ctsv last night, i think their weak for what they cost. He lost to a stock challenger.

If funds allow I'd put a supercharger on it. I've never really been a fan of any kind of power adder but I would supercharge before spray just because you have boost all the time. Nitrous runs out. With a charger your gonna need lower compression. I would call somewhere like TSP and tell them your plans and go from there on the set up.

I agree. Although, a lot of people like the "juice" for some reason. Don't you still have to mess around with purging too?? I would definitely rather have the supercharger...it's ready all-the-time!!!

I didn't know stock challengers were all that fast?? Hard to believe that any supercharged LSx would lose to one??

I have a video ill post for u to see. its a shitty video but u hear the charger scream and see the tail lights pull hard. I also watched him shift. Hit 6400 and power shifted every gear. so i know he can drive the caddy

A stock Challenger SRT8 is a low 13 second car, maybe a high 12. A R/T is down there with lt1 cars.

Your buddies car has problems or that Challenger was not stock.

From what i know the challenger had drag radials and a tune. Caddy was dyno tuned pushing 480 rwhp.

If the Caddy has 480 rwhp then that challenger can't be stock unless he's got a special order engine/hp combo. Drag radials are only an advantage off the line (assuming the Caddy had street radials) and if he was pulling you beyond 60' or so then he's not stock. I heard they have a 500hp option but I'm fairly certain that is at the crank. I think your challenger guy pulled a fast one if he told you it was stock. A dodge can't make that much power without significant changes to the hardware...heads, cam etc...nitrous maybe.

I can smoke the R/T challengers in my Cobalt all day long. I've never ran a SRT 8
but their no way one could run with a 480rwhp caddy. The challengers are boats. Had to have been modded.

Had to been a pretty built Dodge for sure. Listen I like spray, but its not there all the time, I would pick a car with a blower any day just for cruising. Just more fun period.my buds KB cobra is a blast to drive on the street, nitrious is fun but not all the time.how many times are you really going to spray on the street honest, not that much but a blower you will use all the time

Ok so then say i go the blower route. What cam do yall suggest? This challenger raped the caddy, left us standing still! I listened for a cam and didnt hear anything. Claims the car did 12.7 at track. I know the caddy did 12.1 spinning. Im trying to upload video but youtube aint letting me.

That guy (challenger) has got to be full of BS. If the Caddy is 480rwhp then he should be in roll bar territory (low to mid 11's) on all-season radials (maybe that part is a stretch ). What the challenger guy didn't tell you is that his tune was for a 150 shot (that he conveniently forgot to tell you about). Have you looked under the hood or in the trunk?? And, (he conveniently forgot to tell you) 12.7 was off the juice. FYI...you can make a fairly large cam sound stock with the right valve events.

Since you are looking to make some fairly good power I thought this may interest you...

o you have no idea lol, i'm like all over this thread reading in and out of it. only bad thing is i'm barely 20. i'm still trying to get use to head flows, cam lifts, etc. i actually got a cam spec for my caddy to run on motor. its a 238/242 duration. i really don't think too high of superchargers. another buddy of mine has one on this tbss and it barely breaks 13's. too much money for little performance if you ask me.

I spoke to the owner of the challenger and he refuses to pop the hood or trunk. so i'm guessing he must have sprayed.

I would consider that an act of guilt.
We all knew deep down inside that dodges weren't fast (on the motor).

If you are looking into head flows and cam info...please beware...The biggest numbers on paper don't necessarily equal the fastest car on the street. Patrick G is an excellent source and well worth it to get the right cam. If you are into "informal" races...street...1/4 mile or less...then torque needs to be a real close friend. There is a saying...Torque = ET and HP = MPH. Well...I would rather get there first at 110mph than to be second at 115. That isn't a cut and dry statement but there is a WHOLE LOT of truth to it. I have read posts about 500hp cars beating 550hp cars simply because they don't have their combo optimized or the HP is so far up in the powerband that you only get minimal time in that powerband when you are actually racing. An aftermarket converter is an absolute must if you have an automatic!!!
