That is probably out of a lot of peoples range as far as what modifications to do for your truck to compete in that type on an event but if I would have to guess a real mild mid range cam? something along the lines of a 224/224 .580 lift setup.

Have a look in the dyno section and see what results people have with there combinations. The internal sections of both ls1 and ls3 forums also would be a better place to discuss what you need. In general they will want to know where you want the power to come in.

not super good at doin cams and what not but i have an 04 SAS sierra with the 5.3L, i have 38.5 boggers with 5.13s 3400/3600 stall and mid range comp cam and 2.5 PRC heads and in 4low it has absolutely no problem spinning all 4 (locked in front, eaton posi in rear, D60 front 14bolt FF rear) into 2nd gear and clearing them, sometimes 3rd once in a while if im feelin the need to get it to the floor and let it leave 2nd lol, ether or stall converter will help u the most as it will snap it hard off the line and get the RPMs up right away.

also have an 87 k5 blazer on 39.5x15s with crate 350, with mild cam, stock stall converter, with that being said its got alot of low end but if i cant get it to go above 2k ish rpms if i cant spin them good enough untill i get into the power band, why i vote stall converter if its auto and not a DD, ive DDed my sierra for a month or so when T/A was down but wish it had a smaller converter for street drivin, if i was to guess is it probably only has 300hp to wheels maybe less compared to the sierras 400-450rwhp (what i was quoted at with that head/cam, maybe not to the wheels with 38s but). k5 has 4.56s front back and 10bolts, locked front posi back again, and it can spin them into 2nd ok if i just hold it, blown my rear end up a lot though doin that lol

any question im ok/decent at trucks/offroadin (done it since i started drivin and know enough of what not ot do to not blow ur **** up lolol, just got T/A 2 years ago)and know a decent amount about ls engines cause of my T/A so ill try to help as much as possible, sounds like an awesome build, guessing its a toyota hilux?

but cam wise u can get a low end truck cam (which are great for DD trucks/weekend warrior off roaders, not bashing them) but if ur gunna just be muddin it and running say a 3600 stall converter getting a cam that makes most power at 2800rpms (just giving an example) wont be worth it cause u wont ever be down there when u mash it. u put a 3400 stall like i got and u mash it off the line rpms ramp up to 3500-3600 instantly and the truck (2wd on street) lights up the rear tires and then climbs from 3600-6k under full power and load, why its best to match stall of converter with ur cam
