Default TH400 Newbie

I'm looking into purchasing a TH400 from a local guy here. The only concern is would I only have to grind off the "ears" on the bellhousing on this transmission. Or do I need to change the bellhousing to bolt on to my ls1?
The guy mentioned it came off of a 70's chevy 2wd pick-up.

Here are the pics from the transmission:

I cut the ears off my TH350 with a hacksaw, did it the same way on my dad's TH400 before we put it back in his '42 Chevy truck

So that transmission should be fine to mate it to the ls1 right?

most grind the ears off to clear the headers, some are really tight-you can leave them if you have clear., or tilt the trans to install

I ended up getting the transmission for $75. I will see what other things I need to change over the t56 in my t/a.

Thanks for the help guys!

That's not a bad price but you are gonna wanna go have it rebuilt with some goodies like a manual valve body, transbrake and 34 element sprag. Have a builder build it for some power so that it will hold up well.

fastimess- yeah I figured I would have it looked at and get a rebuilt to hold a little more power, along with that trans brake.

Duffster- What all did you do to the trans. before installation?
