Gears & Axles - Would a 28 spline 9 inch be good for my setup?

I know someone selling a 9 inch housing and 28 spline axles. I wanted to ask if a 28 spline with a tru trac and 390s would be a good choice for me. I really am not sure what kind of power a 28 spline 9 inch can hold honestly, everyone seems to run 31 and 33 splines.

I will be running an m6 with a 230/224 cam, occasional track time with et streets, expecting about 400whp.

I'm sure questions like these have been answered a hundred times but the search feature is tough to navigate when posting from my phone

I would not run 28 spline axles with 400 rwhp with an M6. Bob

Thanks for the reply bob. From what I understand, you are the go to guy for rear end stuff. Can I call you later to get a price on a set of axles and a center section?

I'm running 31 splines now. Considering upgrading to 33's at least in the next year or so.

I would be more concerned with the Trutrac over the 28 spl axles. I would definitely up grade since I suggest getting rid of the Trutrac. What you need to do is get a good game plan and figure out how much you want to spend for a differential to suit your needs and that will dictate what spline axles you end up with since some differentials come in different spline counts and some do not.
