LS1 harmonic balancer ?
BOught a 2001 SS has few mods
heads, cam. etc....
Seller said harmonic balancer has tendency to come off any tricks on putting it on never put one on an LS motor, didnt c a keyway or anything

Buy a new bolt. Make sure its the new longer GM substitute. Using an install tool (like the one below), torque to 240 ft lbs to make sure your pulley is properly seated. Remove tool, clean crank threads, apply red loctite to new bolt, tighten to 37 ft/lbs, then turn another 140 deg, and its done.
Some people will tell you anything over 200ft lbs is overkill but why take the chance? Many have successfully pressed the pulley on with the old bolt while some have stripped the threads out of the crank snout this way. When it comes to stuff like this i prefer to be safe.

Some people will tell you anything over 200ft lbs is overkill but why take the chance? Many have successfully pressed the pulley on with the old bolt while some have stripped the threads out of the crank snout this way. When it comes to stuff like this i prefer to be safe.

Pretty much said it all right there, the one thing I would like to add is I installed a dowel pin kit into my balancer when I reinstalled it. Since there is not keyway on the crank the blancer can turn in extreme cases. Just a little extra insurance and worth it in my opinion.
