I have the service manual for my 2002 camaro and would recommend you pony up the $140 or whatever it is now for the service manual for the year of your trans and engine.
Mine anyway is a 3 volume set, over 1800 pages total and shows everything on the car. It will have all the wiring diagrams and you would hopefully be able to go through them all and figure out what each pin is for on the PCM (powertrain control module i.e. engine computer) and on the BCM (body control module). The way I understand it and I could be wrong- there is 3 pieces of [computer] hardware that need to go with the engine: the PCM, the BCM, and the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster i.e.gauges).
You can probably buy the service manual online from GM, I got mine from a pontiac dealer who was a sponsor. part # on mine looks like GMP/02-F-1 where the 1 changes to a 2 and 3 for each volume. The title is "2002 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird Service Manual" published by North American Operations General Motors Corp.
