anyone using a ball shift adapter on their A4

I bought mine from www.cau-llc.com . It's a vette parts company, but they make a adapter for the f-body. go to www.cau-llc.com/shiftknobinstall.html for more info. I like mine but it does sit up about 1.5 inches. I used a boot to cover it and had a black anodized billet ball machined on the inside to slide down over the adapter so it sat lower.

You can actually trim the shift linkage to lower the ball if you want to. If you take the shift **** off and look at the linkage, you'll see its a hollow metal shaft with an off-white plastic bar that goes through the middle all the way to the bottom of the shifter. Here is a picture:

In this picture, I already cut off about 3/4ths of the metal and plastic pieces. Its important not to just cut all the way through because the white part (which acts as the button) needs to sit above the ridge of the metal part about 3/4". I just used a Dremel with a cutting wheel to do the cutting and it worked great.
