Oil pump is 18lbs

3 Cam gear bolts are 26lbs.

Make sure to use blue or red loctite on the cam gear bolts.

Is this necessary? The assembly procedure I followed didn't mention loctite on these bolts so I oiled them and torqued them. The original bolts didn't have any signs of thread locker either.

yes loctite is necessary, IIRC the factory threadlocker is actually applied to the bottom of the bolt head

Absolutely positively necessary. Oiling them is exactly what you don't want to do. Cam gear bolts WILL back out if not fastened properly. It used to happen all the time back in 98-00 before people realized they had to be reinstalled with loctite.

Remove the bolts, soak them in non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner, spray the holes of the camshaft with brake parts cleaner, let them both dry, reinstall with red loctite.

If you don't, you'll wish you did. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys. I pulled the bolts one at a time, sprayed brake cleaner into the holes, cleaned them with q-tips, cleaned the bolts with more brake cleaner, and reinstalled with loctite. You guys may have saved me some serious heartache down the road.

I use blue, if you use a small amount of red you won't need heat to remove, just use common sense and don't put a lot on.
