supercharged 5.3
This is my first post , I am new to the LS engine so here we go . I am building a 55 chevy with an art morrison chassie and would like an ls engine in it . I will be getting a 5.3 out of a crashed 1/2 ton truck it only has 7000 miles on it for 500 bucks . what I would like to do is put a supercharger on it like a whipple or a maggie . I know its not the ideal engine to start with but what kind of power can be made and is there anyone that has a tune . Like was stated its in a 55 chevy two door post . so I might need the computer to run it also any input would be nice . would like 500 to the wheels . am I dreaming .

computer, wire harness (as un cut as possible), gas pedal and pedal module (if drive by wire), fuse block under hood (will make wiring it up a breeze)...
and yes 500 hp is very do-able

Go to the Performance Trucks tab on the top of the page and look up 5.3 engines under the forced induction section. Some guys make amazing power with stock internals.

congrats on a good score. I'm currently also looking for info on this. I'm building a 5.3/t56 s10. I plan on adapting a vortech strim kit I have left over from a previous project. my only problem is running the blower with the stock serp belt. I'm wondering about accessive belt slippage.
Good luck with your build.

What kind of boost are you going to try to run with that S trim??? I have a 99 chevy 5.3 with a sq trim and run 10psi and have no problems. With ported heads and a small comp cam it put down 485 rwhp through the 3000 stall yank and 4l60e.
Should be no problem to hit 500hp to the wheels. Nitrous goes on mine as soon as I can afford it

Nope, I pinned the balancer and I made sure that I bought a good belt. I will only have trouble with it when I clean up the engine bay and get armoral on the belt. It is my DD and my tow rig, I trust it completly.

Hey Kory, what about relocating the idler or adding another to get more belt wrap on the blower
pulley? I think next summer, when our s10's are done, some friendly runs between us will be in order.

I was thinking about the extra pully for more belt wrap. That seems to be a common solution to the problem on performance trucks.
We could run them in the spring. that would be cool.
