P0740 & p040
Hi all,
I am a bit confused after going to get emission today. I only have a computer test here in GA and it failed throwing two codes P0740 & P0404. Now the P0404 is egr and I know all the parts and concerns there, I can care less about that one.
But the one that is killing me is the P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malf. I have NO Check Engine On. After the test, and trying to find as much info as I can on here and the web, I went for a drive and it seems like the tranny is not locking up at all. It accelerate and shift like normal but once i get to a steady speed it jut stays unlocked in fourth.
If anyone have any info that would be helpful about fixing this problem and/or why I have two codes but no check engine light please let me know.
Oh yeah its a 2000 trans am ws6 A4 COMPLETLY STOCK WITH CUTOUT ONLY
Thanks

P0404: Disassemble and clean your EGR.
P0740: Change the TCC (lock-up) solenoid and wiring harness. Usually it is the harness that causes the problem because the wires become brittle and the wire is exposed and it shorts with another wire or shorts to ground on the valve body.
