Just picked up a 40000 mile spice red and have to say I could not be happier at the quality of the car I have been trolling around on this site for about 9 years and just never posted much. I had a bunch of f-bodys but this car with the ls-2. The ls-2 is a monster and drives like an everyday car when you cruise it gotta love it. It's been a few years since I have been in a fast car going from my fag-350 super duty van to this. I was pulling out of the toll booth on 95th and 294 and almost shit my self lol.....anyways happy to be back in the world of LS

Good looking car. Love the SRM! You got lucky with the 18" wheels...IMO they're so much better than the 17"ers that most have including myself. You've got a pretty rare car there. SRM is a 1 yr only color. I'm not sure how much you know about these cars and the differences between the yrs, but the red tail lights on your car don't belong. 2006's had different tails than 04-05 which is what is on there right now. If it doesn't bother you then don't worry about it but if it does you can normally find a pair on ls1gto.com or ebay. They're pricey for a pair of tail lights, though. People sell them for $300-ish but I found mine on ebay for $150. Good looking car though man.

yeah I know about the tail lights I personally like the look that it has with the lights I think it goes well with the color of the car kind of blend together I found the last owner and I'm trying to get in touch with him. He did a few things to the car and just would like to know more history about it. yeah I have wanted one of these for a long time and I'm learning that stuff for these cars is not cheap but they are built way better then the f-body's-my car 1 of 292 for 2006 2.09% of total year build of 13948

Ok I was just making sure you were aware. I have no problem with the 04-05 tails I just didn't like the red look next to my yellow car especially since it's going to start getting some black accents. It's always good to know the history of the car. I'm the 3rd owner of mine. The lady I bought it from did not of the modifications and I don't know how to get ahold of the original owner. 2% huh...Yeah I would say that's pretty rare. I think mine is 4% of the '04s but mine also had the SAP package and idk how to find the numbers for that.

I sure you know you could look up the numbers on ls-1 gto I got lucky by finding to last owner of the car and talked to him about the history of the car he really took care of everything on it and I'm nothing but happy with the car compared to my old f-bodies not that there was anything wrong with them. I just think that the f-bodies are really the last of the old in your face muscle cars that can be made fast as hell for nothing

Yeah the solid axles help. The IRS is a major component limiting the GTOs from more efficiently putting their power to the ground. That's a fairly simple fix but it takes time and money. And seeing how mine is a DD my solution to that is gonna be drag bags and my Mickeys. Mine doesn't make enough power for the soid axle swap to be necessary and until Gateway opens back up it won't be seeing any track time anyways. It's just more of a fast street car. The GTO is just a much more comfortable car which is why I ended up choosing it over a ws6 or ss. And I liked the fact that you don't see many driving around. I can't even count the amount of f-bodies I see everyday.

Yeah I'm pretty pumped. The dad of one of my brother's friend's told me about it opening back up a few months ago. He said it's going to be like a trial year or something to see if they can actually make money. He knows a lot about the re-opening since he actually used to manage the track like 15 years ago before they did the rebuild. I'm excited to try out the road course and strip now that I actually have a car worth taking.

Not true. I said and until Gateway opens back up it won't be seeing any track time anyways.
Moving on...yes I'm looking forward to the road course more than the strip. My buddy used to take his '65 Fastback G.T.350 clone there regularly for the road course. Ever since I went with him I've been wanting to give that a try. After that I got huge into the old trans am series cars and racing. IMO it's more fun then just going straight for 1/4 mile. Back then I had nothing worth taking there, but now that I've got the goat I've been dying to give that a try. And that's what I'm building my '81 Camaro for. A guy on here that I've been trading PMs with is supposed to be getting me a good deal on a kit from Hotchkis and some caltracs.

lol sorry misread that.
Yea my buddy is really into auto cross and road courses, with his vette, and I've always wanted to try just to see how the goat would do.

Lol no biggie. Well obviously the Vette will do better in each in comparison to the Goat, but it's still a lot of fun. The pic I attached with my last post is actually of my buddy with the fastback and I at an autox event. It rained right before we started so it was wet and I still had a blast. The blacktop dried out for the 2nd heat and my times are proof of that lol. The fastback didn't do so well though...no power steering+tight chicane=HARD!
