well the 317s are basically a 243 head with bigger combustion chambers so they are a good flowing head in stock form are you goin NA or FI with this build.

well if your goin NA then your goin to need compression and a stock LQ4 is 9.4.1 i sold my 317s and bought a set of 243s for short money on ebay sent them to AI and had them ported and milled .030 that got me 11.1 compression roughly with stock mls .051 gaskets. you can mill the 317s but if you mill them to get roughly what i have for compression you'll more then likely run into intake fitment problems.

I know they'll need milled to get the comp. up as is and along with a thiner gasket may help also.

The short block will be getting a rebuild (at least new bearings, rings and gaskets) if everything else checks out.
Now IF it needs bored, I'll get some flat tops.
Would love to get some LS3 heads....but waiting on the verdict of the short block.

This won't be happening until early in the new year....trying to get my game plan ready
