I was looking into putting together a front mount turbo on my 98 Trans Am. However, there are so many options! So I was looking into Modular Turbos or Ky-turbo's front mount kits. Does everyone enjoy there KY-turbo setup and about how long did it take for it to be built?
Im looking to be able to make 550rwhp but if I can build my 402 I would like to make more. Is the TC76 turbo a good turbo for the street? Just trying to figure something out for the spring.

As of right now 6-8 weeks on a manifold setup. Header setups a bit longer.
TC76 or TC78 is a great turbo for the street. Its is easily capable of 500+rwhp on a stock cube engine. The 408ci is gonna need more turbo.

You cannot go wrong with either company. Both offer great customer service. A couple years ago when i first was thinking about going turbo i emailed josh a couple times and he was always great to deal with, even though i never actually bought anything from him. His track record with actual customers speaks for itself, everyone seems to be more than happy. Same goes for modular turbo, i have nothing but positives to say about that company.

also, a 400+ci will need more than a tc76

A C6 manifold on the passenger's side will allow you to keep AC. Still uses a truck manifold on the driver's side facing forward.

I have a KYTP kit i purchased off a member here. I cannot say enough good things about the quality of the kit. The welds and bends are seamless and the overall design is simple and effective. I would recommend it highly.

I bought one, but i had it mocked up with the stock K member. If I were to notch the passenger side for manifold clearance i bet i could have gotten away with using the stocker.

with the modular kit you dont have to cut the radiator support .buy a new radiator or new fans and its only 799.id say the modular kit.

I wouldnt go below an 80mm turbo on a 400ci engine but i am by no means an expert. Call up a sponsor and pick their brain. You dont really need ball bearings, theyre nice but not really necessary on a V8
