g5x3 cam

LS1 motor I'm assuming? If so no PTV issues at all. There are lots of people making 400 to the wheels with this cam and supporting bolt ons. I ran the G5X4 and loved it.

For that price you must be gettin springs and everything. even choosing a smaller cam,if you have springs with miles on them,it's good to freshen them up for safety. The g5x3 is a great cam,a proven performer,i had it. It makes big power mid and upper rpm and for me it drove great. I made 460hp with that cam and ran close to 10's n/a with a 3,700lbs m6 car(with me in it) It will add 30-40hp depending on mods like heads, ect. Fact is cars cost money, for heads, cam, ect. The $1,500 is worth it with springs. If you don't like spending, get a hobby that cost less. or be happy with a slower car. If you get the x3 cam,you will be happy. I also ran the x4 cam. only added 5hp over the x3 and saw no e.t improvement at the track.

There are other spring options to run with that cam. Theres no reason you cant pick up the cam by itself (I bet youd even find one used) and buy compatible springs/pushrods cheaper. The Comp 921s sell for about 600 by themselves, so thats a good part of the cost of that kit.
The PRC springs from TSP are a good example.. Im running the PRC EHT 675s and they are only about 350.00 and could more than handle that cam. IIRC, the G5X3 is just over .600 lift, so even the PRC 650s would be enough, and they are about 290.00 from TSP.
