Default Air Conditioning Bracket # 10118751 -Truck Engine

I am planning on using the # 10118751 A/C bracket (modified) used on a bunch of the mid 90's Silverado's and S10s. I have a 5.3 truck engine that is going into my 1955 Chevy Truck, and plan on using a F-body A/C compressor for my Vintage Air setup. The guys over at Malibu Racing have done this mod, and that is where I got the idea.

Question is on moving the water pump elbow on top of the housing? Some of the documentation mentions heating up the aluminum base around the elbow, and then using a pipe slid inside of the elbow, rotate it counterclockwise to essentially point it straight out towards the front. I tried to heat this up today to move it with a torch set, but didn't get the elbow to move. Is there a trick to this, or exactly how hot do you get the base of the aluminum? If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!
