Default Budget friendly turbo kit for LSX Mustangs

Has anyone tried using one of these kits on an LS motor?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turbo-Kit-Fo...sories&vxp=mtr

I know people have used Mustang 351 headers for LS swaps by cutting off the flanges and welding on LS flanges. I know the connecting mid pipe may need to be shortened/lengthened. Any ideas?

Got your pm. Looks like the ebay kit besides it being mild steel instead of stainless. Where did your buddy system leak from?

I appreciate your experience. That's what I'm looking for is some people who may have tried this or something similar before. Any other experiences/suggestions?

After seeing a b&g kit in person on a local fox and watching the headers crack over and over I wouldn't run their kit. Hopefully the metal is thicker on the ls stuff and welded properly.

What is the attraction of the LS platform for Mustang guys when they have engines that are awesome? Every new mustang that comes out everyone is touting how great it is and all that.
Just to be different?
Thanks!

Im not a "Mustang guy" Ive always been a GM fan but have always liked the foxbodys for some reason.

Light weight car, easy to get it to hook up at the track, and more room in the engine bay. Whats not to like?

the small block ford is a great motor, but takes some money to build before you can throw a bunch of boost at it, and it'll also need an atermarket ecu for any serious power. the 4v 4.6 is great, but fetch a pretty penny, and parts arent cheap. the lsx is great because its cheap to get into and parts are also cheap and readily available.

ex- a 5.0 block will crack right down the middle at around 525whp.

Bingo, whats really crazy is if u compare the LS to a old sbf motor u might be surprised how close of a resemblance they are to each other. Look around, ull see what Im talking about.

theres a few people over on ttf that have split 5.0 blocks at as little as 415rwhp. the lsx is a bad *** motor, lots of people making well over 600hp on completely stock motors with only a valve spring upgrade. check out denmah's builds on theturboforums

I agree with you on the money and block strength benefits you get from using an LSX. I think that's why most guys do it.

The 4v 4.6 is just too physically large of a motor. Stock 5.0 ECU's have been in the 9's many times.

LQ4 turbo'd = 600+ rwhp
Notchback Mustang = 2,900 lbs

2,900 X 600+ rwhp = NASA on wheels!!!

I am a diehard Chevy guy! But the lightweight of the Foxbody, the strength of the rear ends! How can you go wrong with a mutation like this!!! Not to mention how good the foxes look!

Here is what the single turbo set up looks like installed on an engine. The single turbo set is $295 for the hot side and comes in stainless steel. The twin turbo are stainless as well and are around $120 shipped. I have heard some praise these set ups while others say stay clear.

Pros: Budget friendly. Simplicity, just remove the head flanges and install the LS flanges for $50.

Cons: Suprisingly the only con I have heard is that some have leaked at the flanges. Installing the LS head flanges eliminates have of the issue as long as your welds are solid. And just "IF" you buy the set that has a leak in the weld at the turbo flange, repair it and keep moving.

Matter of fact, why not pressure test it with 15 psi and a spray bottle of soapy water before installation to ensure no leaks prior to setting everything up. Takes 5 mins.

Just some thoughts for those who may not have a whole lot of welding skills to completely fab up a system, and the ones who don't want/have a whole heap of cash to spend having somebody else do it.

I liked the way stangs looked also. Its just too easy to make power in an LS motor and then stick it in a light body such as a stang and watch it fly.

There was a guy in the conversion section and he put in a stock ls1 with an auto in a mustang and ran 12's without even trying.

P.S. Anybody looking for a Mustang GT to throw together. A buddy of mine has one for sale in the southern classifieds. Here is a link to it.
