Default Vacuum to low with 224 cam?

I had a scanner on my car after running at the track and noticed that the the car was showing 14.2 of vacuum at idle and 17.9 under a load. Is this to low with a 224 cam or is this an indication of something wrong?

The vacuum will be lower with a 224 cam....if anyone else with the 224 knows what their vacuum is, speak up...but in general, yes, it will be lower than stock.

Nah, a friend of mine has a 224 on 112 and it seems to be just fine. There are many cars around that have cams in the upper 220s and lower 230s and I dont see them posting about problems...

I'll have to see after I get mine installed

Back when I had a HUGE cam, if the idle went too low, the brakes barely worked. With 22x cams and low 23x cams, there shouldn't be a problem. The HVAC system works off vacuum (switching between vents, etc.). There are a few more systems, but the brake system is the biggest one.

Yep, it'll take A LOT more cam than an average 224 to cause vacuum issues....
