I tried to join your mailing list on the track days website but clicking the mailing list box doesn't do anything. Could you add heyjim@live.com to your mailing list please?

Team Cadillac will be there! Popped my cherry at this event last year, had a great time with MFBA. The instructors are great and there is plenty of track time.

This looks amazing. I did autocross for the first time locally here in Cleveland with a local Corvette club. I will really consider making the 8+ hour trip for the experience.

I'm a first time racer and I would really like to make it out to the event this year. Working on getting the car track ready for this upcoming season.

This event is perfect for the new to road course people.
We run 4 different groups to accommodate every level of driver & to have less cars on track per session.
Warning though this is highly addictive !!!
EDIT;
Any question about car preperation ask away! I or many others here have experience getting the vehicle set for a track weekend. Area's to address etc.

Is there a FAQ you could point me to? My mods are in sig, I just want to make sure I can pass tech and if there is anything I need to address before signing up.

Sure thing, look here (http://roadamerica.mfba.org/techinfo.html).

Tech is really simple basic stuff.
Windsheild intact/unbroken
Working brake lights
Helmet(s)
OEM seat belts or multi point
Convertable roll bar
+ battery terminal covered
Tires & suspension in good working order/condition
No leaks
Floor mats/excess removed from vehicle

Just the basic stuff is checked over...

Now I would suggest some things to get before a track event.
Some good front pads & some new "blank" rotors.
I've done fine with hawk pads & blanks
A brake fluid flush possible fluid upgrade
Might want braided brake lines/hoses if you've never put them on.
I like to clean out the power steering fluid often if it's never been done.
LS motors I run about a quart over full to keep from having oiling issues cornering.
I run a improved racing oil pan baffle not an absolute but nice to have.
There is other things as you might track more often, but I'd suggest getting the feel of the car down stock/suspension wise.

If you can please help forward our e-mails and make posts, it really
helps us out big time. Our mailing list is small, but with word of
mouth we can reach many more individuals that may also enjoy our

I have doubts whether my Trans Am will be ready in time for the event. I am perfectly happy doing things in my G8, however. Is it ok to fill out the forms with one car (the G8) and then change to a different one later? Is there a charge for doing this?

How many more people do you need to pre-register in order for the event to proceed?

wrencher
02-07-2012, 10:37 PM
We've ran into this scenario plenty of times.
You can list the TA on your registration. If you end up with the G8 we can change the info the day of no problem.

The G35 is a very capable car. Is it an automatic though?
We have had people out ther in some vehicles much less than that on the track in the beginners group.

gmmusclecarman
03-12-2012, 11:20 PM
the g35 is a great car but yes it is an automatic. Its got 105k and its my DD so I dont want to give it too much hell. I don't need anything breaking. The brakes are also crap so I would be afraid of getting it up to speed and having to brake hard for a corner.

My dream one day though is to do a nice ls swap on either a g35 or 350z. I think it would make an awesome track car!

wrencher
03-14-2012, 01:05 AM
I just say because there are some very capable 350/370 cars & G35/7's we have come up. They get around pretty well around the track.

not to mention some vehicles will be a bit on the portly side. My hope is that the TA will be done (3100 pounds, M6), but my G8 (4000+, Auto) is the fallback plan. It will still be the same goofball behind the wheel though :D

Looks like my car isnt going to be ready in time due to shipping troubles on parts and whatnot. I don't really have another car to race so I may still come just to spectate but since I will not be able to race will I be able to get a full refund of my $400 bucks?

gmmusclecarman
04-15-2012, 11:07 PM
Just read through some FAQs and looks like chances of me getting a refund are slim....so anyone who is still interested in going I have a full weekend spot Im willing to sell for $400 instead of the $500 current price. Please let me know!

People have encountered your same issue in the past. Believe it or not, some have gone to rental agency's and still had a fun weekend. Just a thought

what exactly are you missing to make the car complete?

gmmusclecarman
04-17-2012, 01:12 PM
Well Im waiting on a clutch and some pushrods. Should be here in the next week but then I still have to get it together and in the car. Then I need to break in the new motor and have it dyno tuned. Dont think I can get all that done in two weeks :(

IMO, that is an excellent idea.

When I went to my 1st track day someone should have pulled 4 plug wires off. I had way more power than talent. I had made some "enhancements" to the car and really wanted to "see what she would do".

During my first run the instructor asked me if I had ever been on a road course before and my answer was no. He said, OK this is what we are gonna do. I couldn't believe it, I had a personal trainer.

Personally, I don't thick it matters what you drive at an HPDE because it's not about the car, it's about the driver's ability to learn. The car is just a tool you use to learn the various aspects of being on track. Track instruction will come in the class room and from your personal trainer (coach).

For best results, leave all ego's at home, arrive with an open mind, spend quality time with a great group of instructors, make new friends, and have fun.

After attending quite a few HPDE events last year, I am a safer driver on public roads because of what I learned. Oh yea, Mitch was my instructor and MFBA at Road America was my first road course event.

This post is not directed to any one person but to everyone. See you at the track and be safe.

installing pushrods and a clutch shouldn't take you more than 3-4 hours assuming everything is apart and ready to i nstalled. Do you a dyno session lined up already? FLP? modern muscle?
