Congrats on the 10 second runs. My eyes are telling me you could use a little more air pressure in those back tires.

Yeah looking at the pics now, I could have added a bit. I was running 17 psi and it didnt seem to be low at the time.

Great run, congrats!

What changed from your previous best 11.48 run? Just the wheels or cooler air also? I'm currently runing around an 11.1@120 and trying to justify buying drag wheels. Thanks

My street wheels were 17" replica zr1s with et streets in the rear, which are very heavy. The week before I went 11.48 @121, but I have gone a best of 11.37 @ 118 on that wheel/tire combo. I had to ramp into it off the line to keep from spinning.

I ran the 10.89 @ 124 the following week with the only change being the drag wheels/tires. They are 15x3 bias fronts and 15x8 QTP's in the rear, which dropped just over 100lb rotating mass. I could hammer down right off the line with this combo and for the most part it would dead hook. Basically dropped almost .5 sec and gained 3mph with them, so I would say they are worth it.

Thanks for the info. I would say they are worth it also.

What wheels are they, weld drag lites? I cannot tell from the pics. Did you have to grind calipers?

What all did u remove to get the race weight down if i may ask? i wanna do that to mine next on my list..

Yes they are weld draglites that I had powder coated. I run 1/4" spacers in the front with no grinding and 3/16" spacers in the rear with a decent amount of grinding. The rears are 15x8 with 5.5 bs.

I removed everything I could without compromising the interior too much. !abs, !airbags, no front support, race carpet, aftermarket seats, no emissions, no washer tank, etc. All tubular suspension up front, and the hood is light. I still have all the interior panels but the door panels are aluminum that I covered in black vinyl. For the amount of stuff I pulled out I expected the car to be much lighter but some suspension parts, roll bar, and the s60 add a bit.

nice run man! Car looks good. Im trying to figure out how ypu jumped up 50 hp? I remember seeing one of your post a long time ago and you only had 40. What else have you done to the car since then?

400rwhp/345rwtq was my old setup, but the car made those numbers with the converter unlocked.

Since then I swapped out the ls6 intake for a VR ported FAST 102, and got re-tuned. Realistically I picked up about 25 peak and 10-15 across the rpm range from my old numbers. Not bad considering the new numbers were through an S60 and 4" DS, while the old dyno pull was through the stock 10 bolt and DS.

I heard Atco always have great air and everybody runs better there than at other tracks.

Running 10s n/a in a stock 346 is getting it done!

From looking at the clock, it looked like your 60' was a 1.54? What was your 1/8 mi et/mph?

I think it was the 140mph burnout that gave you the boost you needed to get into the 10s. Only person Ive ever seen do a wheelie in the burnout box...

Awesome! How many miles on that stock trans? How much do you drive it on the street?

83k on the trans, about 20k with the converter. It does have a transgo shift kit I installed with the converter to bump shift pressure instead of through tuning. I ran a decent sized cooler on it before getting a converter and change the fluid to help it survive lol.

It was my DD until 3 months ago when I picked up a TBSS.

great pass, how did you get to 11.4.1 cr I have almost the same setup but my cr is not that high, I was told it was 10.8.1, I have same heads milled .020 and a .045 head gasket and my slugs are .006 out of the hole. just wondering maybe my info is off.

fronts are 3.5x26, rears are 11.5x26

great pass, how did you get to 11.4.1 cr I have almost the same setup but my cr is not that high, I was told it was 10.8.1, I have same heads milled .020 and a .045 head gasket and my slugs are .006 out of the hole. just wondering maybe my info is off.

I run 0.040" cometic gaskets and my heads were decked to 62cc by TEA. I assumed my pistons were .006" out of the hole, but never measured. static compression calculation is always a best estimate since there is some variation in all inputs.

Bore: 3.901"
Stroke: 3.64"
Out of the Hole: .006"
Gasket: 0.040"
Chambers: 62cc = 3.783 in^3

Volume TDC = 3.783 + (.040*pi*(3.901/2)^2) - (.006*pi*(3.901/2)^2)
Volume BDC = VTDC + (3.64*pi*(3.901/2)^2)

SCR = VBDC / VTDC = 11.38 for my setup. When I was putting my combo together i wanted to max DCR for pump gas since I street my car often, so SCR kind of just happened to land here.

Assuming the same calculation with your .045" head gaskets, I get a SCR of 11.24:1

thanks looks like my info was wrong, also can you post your 11.30 time slip I would like to compare it to mine so I can see if the rims would make the same diff for me or if its a traction issue for you and not just gains from the rims.

KirkEvil
02-19-2012, 10:45 AM
I got both traction and weight savings from the drag wheels. I could never hammer down on the 17" radials like I could on the QTPs. All together the drag wheels were 90 lbs lighter than my 17" zr1s. Here are some slips from when I was on the 17" radials:

I had an ls6 intake and stock TB for these runs. Also about 150 lbs heavier. I dynod 399 rwhp with the converter unlocked with this setup. Best pass was 11.37@118mph
http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/KirkEvil/NJFBOA/Nats%2010-23/IMGP1124.jpg

I made 2 passes the weekend before this rental on the 17" radials to make sure everything was working. Best pass was an 11.48 @ 121 mph

60' ... 1.864
330' ... 4.896
1/8 ... 7.428
mph ... 96.45
1000 ... 9.630

1/4 ... 11.489
mph ... 121.07
