List of questions: 69 A-body Brake conversion
Hey guys,
Got a laundry list and hopefully can get some help here. I've tried searching for most but can't find what I need.
Brakes.
I'm converting over to discs using a setup from a 00 camaro SS. I do not have the backing plates for the rears. Is there a good place to find them? And what are they technically called? can't find anything related to this on Car-part.com.
Second, the vacuum line from the booster to the intake. Where to get one and where on an LY6, or any truck intake, does this go into? It's a strange connection into the hydroboost, so I figured I'd ask instead of screwing it up
Third, what are people with a disc conversion running for a prop valve? and does anyone have the brake line fitting sizes? I'm building my entire brakeline setup from scratch.
Last question is regarding the clutch. I'm running a clutch setup, master and slave, from a 05 GTO. I've got a line from the slave that comes up into a 7/16" x20 female line. Is this common, because I could not find a brake fitting for this at Autozone or Advanced.
I need a male 7/16x20 to 3/16 for the master. Is this a dealer part, or should I try to concoct something new?
Thanks in advance for all the help
Jim

I do not know the answers but I would check here:
http://www.chevelles.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16
This forum is not going to be your high yield place for this set of questions.
but why are you wanting to put a vacuum line to a hydroboost?
As to the fittings summit offers everything you need if you are building your own lines. Advanced or Autozone will have the preflared sections in the appropriate sizes and adapters at the stores I have gone to in the past.

I swapped C5 brakes on my 70.
My car was originally a drum/drum, so I used the stock distribution block which is a 50/50. I put in a summit/wilwood prop valve on the rear line, which is 1/4" size IIRC.
I am not running backings plates front or rear.

you might be using hydroboost referring to your vacuum brake booster in that case yes it goes to the large vacuum port on the back of the intake.
If it is a hydroboost then no you do not put vacuum lines to it. You will have three ports. A high pressure inlet, High pressure outlet, and low pressure return.

Backing plates are just called backing plates I think. I have a set without the ebrake shoes that I'm not using, but you could also check in the salvage yards for any unscavenged f-bodies that would have them.
Pretty sure vacuum and hydroboost do not mix.
It's not in yet but I bought a wilwood adjustable prop valve/ distro.
Just saw this over on P-T. This guy has the whole setup http://www.pro-touring.com/showthrea...plete-for-sale

I've got the booster/MC setup out of a 2000 camaro SS. not sure if it's hydroboost or vacuum assisted. Does anybody know?
If it's hydroboost, where do I hook that up? the PS pump?
And Chuck, Thanks for the heads up on the pro-touring link. Looks like they're already gone. If you're willing to get rid of yours, please pm me and we'll work something out.
