Default Are There Any LQn Blocks to Look Out For?

I'm looking to build a 40x from an LQ4/LQ9. I recall reading that some of the older ones had different diameter rear sealing surface on the cranks or something. Is is something build into the block or front or rear cover or is it specific to the crank? I won't be using the crank.

Not diameter, length. The 99 early 2000 cranks in the Lq engines were longer to bolt to the 4l80 trans.

All the blocks are the same.

If you go with the 4l80 tranny the crank will be fine but if you want m6 its a no go!
