My car has 275/40R17 BFG KDWs on the front that I bought used, they're clearly old tires but they've got plenty of tread on them. Let me just say these tires tramline so bad, sometimes I want to just let the car steer itself into a guard rail so I can be done with this problem. To make it worse, they're about as loud as the mud tires on my buddy's lifted Jeep Cherokee. They are absolutely dreadful tires.

I've got a couple brand new 245/50R16 Michelins on my stock wheels and with these tires up front there is no tramlining at all, so this makes me think that the tires are the problem and not the ball joints or the alignment.

Does anyone have 275s up front that don't tramline? I can't believe that one more inch of rubber on the road causes all the tramlining, so maybe it's just these old BFGs that are the problem.

My car is a daily driver so I don't care about 60ft times or how many g's I can pull on a highway off-ramp, I've got M/Ts for the dragstrip and I just want some everyday livable no-nonsense DD tires that are quiet, don't tramline, and ride decent.

Since I've got 315s on the back my only two choices for front tires that would match the rears are Nitto NT555s or Sumitomo HTR Zs. Can anyone vouch that these tires won't tramline even if they're 275s on the front?

I have Riken Raptor ZR's on my SS and it follows all the grooves in the road, you have to fight it to keep it going straight. However, I think with a tire that wide up front, it's going to have some tramline in it regardless, that's just how it is. But depending on how bad it is you may definitely want to look into some new tires.

The wider the front tire the more it wants to tramline. Everyone else deals with it. You can go down to a 245 if you want to tramline less.

My BFG KDW 2's are much better than the GY F1's that came on my WS6. The BFG's want to pull from time to time but it is much more manageable than the stock Goodyears.

Think about it this way. Old pavement acquires grooves in the lanes from the normal flow of traffic. The vast majority of tires used on pasenger vehicles are under 255 width. Therefore, the "ruts" are going to be that width or smaller on average. Any tire wider will want to bounce arouns the "rut" as it is unable to settle in.

For some reason the 325/60/18 tires that I had on my truck never pulled. So I think the lower profile tires on our cars make it worse.

IMO 275's are a middle sized tire.

225 seems to have no problem, 305 are wide enough to get up on the pavement.

275 just bounce around.

Yes, my Goodyear Eagle F1s do it terribly. It's scary in the rain. I have to ride basically in the middle of the road to avoid the problem.

I have same size tires you have up front and out back as well (315/35/17's on back) and I get that swirvy **** all the time. I actually have to grip the steering wheel to keep from running into the cars next to me .It seems to be a common 4th gen F body problem.

I have the same tires on my 95 cobra also 18" and I am having the same problem. They just plain suck gonna switch to nittos have had great out come with nittos.

Undoubtly. A taller softer sidewall should definately hide it. I bet the weight of the vehicle makes some difference as well.
