Default Opinions on my cam choice

2001 SS with a lid, headers, ory, 6spd, 3.42gear

Thinking of goin with a 227/235 .614/.621 111+3 lsa LSL lobes

Street car, very little drag strip if any, not really looking to turn over 6500 or so rpms. i think this cam will work pretty good. i really just want something thats fun to drive, sounds good, and has good low and midrange punch, with a little more than stock up top.

What do you guys think of this cam? I have a very good tuner...one of the best in my opinion, so a great dyno tune will be done.

from what you're describing the 219/227 would have better street manners
but the cam you've chosen can be tuned decent and will probably be better
mid and top end

I think a smaller duration cam will put you closer to your goals. Something like a 223/223 or 223/227, 111+3 lsa with LSL lobes.

227/235 .614/.621 111+3 lsa with headers sounds good, I say go for it or if not 227/231 111+2 lsa with LSL as well.

219/227 it's a bigger split so that's more for stock manifolds or forced induction cam.

I daily drove a trex h/c car before with my old car and what i meant to say in the first post is i want more under the curve and streetability than my old setup. Any smaller than 227/235 and i feel i wont be happy. I want the power coming in much sooner than 4500. my old car made 453rwhp and 404tq but it was all up top.

I say go for it. It's not too big to where you'll loose low end torque/power, yet it's still big enough to where you won't wish you would have went bigger. Plus, with 9 degrees of overlap, you'll get a nice choppy/rough idle, the way a true muscle car should sound. Who are you going to have grind it?

Not sure yet...it might be a while before I can do a cam swap. Just getting my stuff together and deciding how much cam i want. I really thought about a 231/239 LSL which is basicly an LSL lobe version of a G5X2...but I think i want just a touch more down low...which is why I really like the 227/235. I like a nice 6-8 degree split...there are so many cams that have been proven time and time again with this pattern, seems like i cant go wrong with it.

It's a solid choice. Just go for it and I'm sure you'll be happy with the results.
