Ever since I've owned my Trans am on the passenger side the sail panel cover/plastic has always stuck out about a 1/2 inch. You can push it back but it'll slowly push itself right back out. Anybody elses car do this and how can I fix it ?

sounds like the adhesive that usually causes the bubbles let go.

I believe he's referring to the interior panel, not the roof panel.
There's a thread here that SSteven (Mark) started where he made some mod's to help them stay in place.
Search using 'interior panel' & SSteven's usename & see if you can find it.

This is a common problem and GM issued a TSB for it.
Go to the dealer, order a repair kit for each side and you'll be fine. It's a special screw that you install under the speaker grille and the kit comes with instructions.

Yea it is the interior piece. Thanks but you would have thought since it was issued in 2000 they would have fixed it by 02.

Good point, the TSB says that its only for 99-00, but I'll bet whatever tweak they did on the assembly line wasn't as good as the addition of a screw.
The real problem is that the velcro that holds the panel to the metal isn't very adequate. Cheating with a screw helps overcome this.
I've uploaded the actual TSB here. There are good tips and pictures for any model year. You don't really "need" the repair kit from GM. A good self-tapping screw will do the trick. (GM's is a really fancy one that doesn't require one to pre-drill the plastic.) Just drill a hole in the grille tabs on the panel, put the screw in once the panel is properly positioned, and make sure you keep it out of the way of the speaker grille.

I can't get the file to pull up on my computer. I think I lack some kind of software on the computer but I called the dealer and ordered two of them all ready. I have 4 4th gens and the one car on the passenger side is the only one I've had a problem with. And the ones I haven't had problems with are all 00 or older. That plastic piece acts almost like its warped in the middle. Thanks

Its a .pdf - all you need is Adobe Acrobat Reader. If it doesn't work in your browser, save it off to your computer and then open it. (That should work for you.)
