Special Edition Vehicles - can you tell if a trans am came with ws6 package by looking at the vin

I'm going to look at a another trans am Monday , but the guy is saying it is a ws6 but he has swapped the hood with another ta he had. Thanks

Not the VIN, no. But you can look for WS6 on the option decal on the edge of the driverside door.

WS6 is an RPO option, so like the above post said, check the rpo sticker on driver side door. There is a way to decode VIN though, that's how I found out what the ASC conversion # was.

A stock non-WS6 hood will hit the raised WS6 airbox. Smells fishy.

As was stated, if the car still has the RPO decal on the driver's door, that should have "WS6" as one of the codes. If it doesn't have WS6, its not a WS6.

If the decal is missing (possible if the door has been replaced), a GM dealer can run the VIN# through the GM-VIS system and give you a printout of all the RPO codes for that car. It should have "WS6" listed to be legit.
