Default Badass street race

A few of us got together last night to talk **** and do some hits on the street. This is iPhone video shot from my passenger seat. I was on about 17 psi which = about 147 in the 1/4 mile. About a 45-50 mph roll. The other car is my buddy Manny. It's CTS-V with a built bottom end, cam, stock heads, stock blower and a 200 shot of nitrous. Thing flat works on the street. His logged showed we went to about 150 mph. I'm going to need to turn it up just a little more to get around him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBX-e...1&feature=plcp

I'm pretty sure that it's still the fastest CTS-V in the 1/4 in the country and that was before he switched to E85 and re-cammed.

The only thing I don't like about watching an in car video of street racing... You could be racing two 18 second honda's or two 8 second cars. The result looks the same through the window of a car on a camera.

i already know the type of response my post will bring, but being a member of emergency services i feel the need to comment. the taking part in illegal street racing is something i work to hopefully end. i understand the "we were out in the country, late at night, no one was around, and there was no risk of injury" arguments as ive heard them after responding to these situations gone wrong. there is never a guarentee of safety while moving at 150mph.... never. even at regisitered licensed tracks things can go wrong, the advantage being the safety precautions taken for the public viewing, and for the drivers (ambulance/fire services already at the track).

the video is great, the cars are fantastic. but please, please leave racing for the racetrack. thankyou.

Noonzor, you need to find a new hobby I think. Im pretty sure that the original poster is now sitting at home and completely re-evaluating his life because of your inspirational post. He is also quitting his job to join the peace corps and move to Africa.

98Cobrakiller.... Nice race! (2) 150Mph cars?!?!? You could have charged admission. Haha

my post was not meant to cut the legs out from anyone, but merely shine some light on something that seems to be so widely accepted and bragged about. ive been into cars and things that go fast, like many of us, since i was a little kid. however, my opinion on street racing has drastically changed after spending my years in the fire department and seeing the serious injuries and tragic deaths that happen during these events. im not saying "stop racing" im asking to keep racing in safer environments.

I don't know why you even waste your time posting that here? Street racing will be around forever. I have been around it since I was 13 and going on 40 now. I agree that racing at the track is safer and street racing is dangerous but we all know that. You didn't teach anyone anything by your post? Letting everyone know how you feel is the only thing you did with your post. If you don't like it keep it movin.

Racing at a 1/4 mile track, to me, is GAY. Really GAY. Some people say roll racing is gay, its what I like though. 1320 feet and you're done. Street racing is the true test of Horsepower.........and just like the guy who loves the 1/4 mile, some of us don't like to set a car up to do one thing, the 1/4 mile.

Some of us like handling, looks, braking and top end. Fact is, a nicely built street car, like mine, can do all of that stuff and still run a badass 1/4 mile time. I could never build a car that does one thing, run 1320 feet and then stop.

As far as street racing goes....who cares, we all live once and we're all gonna die sometime. Just don't put other drivers in other cars in danger or passengers in your car, thats how I see it. My car see's 150mph 3-4 times a week just driving by myself, no racing. Its just fun............

Curious...whats your engine size and is it a Camaro? Size turbo? Whats the RWHP on both cars?
