Default Stock 10 bolt concern?

What's up guys, I've had my 02 Trans am for Bout 8 months now Nd I have most bolt ons on it already, i have some nitto drag radials on my wheels aswell so my question is should I be concerned about my stock 10 bolt if I'm launching at 1200 rpm's on my drag radials....I'm also considering throwing some 3.73s on it, is it worth my time and money?

Personally id say go with 4.10's unless you have an auto..Launching at 1200 won't hurt anything..Its those 3500+ clutch drops on Dr's that get the 10 bolts..But iv seen some last and then iv seen some pop on the very first launch...Luck of the draw i guess.

I have an A4 that's why I want 3.73s ...I just don't want to invest money into a rear end that's gonna break on me!

In the last 4 years I have blown up 4 rear ends...2 of them had richmond 3:73's in them. What killed all of them was wheel hop which lead to cracked pinions and gears. I have since upgraded with BMR and have yet to grenade my stock rear with 3:23's BUT I do not have slicks either so it really is hit or miss with these stock 10 bolts.
Oh I also have a 4l60e with a 3500 stall.
If you have the means look online, do your research and you can build a 12 bolt for under 1500. Good luck!

launching that low will not hurt that 10 bolt. having the auto helps a ton too! i have a 6 speed and was doing 4200 dumps at the track last week and my 10 bolt is still fine!

Skip the 3.73s for now. If you have the stock stall, you'll want to change that first for best results. For an A4 LS1, a 3500+ stall is where the real gains are at, not gears.

Like stated above, with an A4 car you most likely won't break the rear unless you have wheel hop issues. Many of us have had the stock 10 bolts in the 1.6 and even 1.5 or lower 60-foot times for a long, long time on stock gears without issues. It's the M6 cars that really have to worry about the rear.

I don't know why you would need a full dyno tune for just a stall. With the bigger stalls, there are sometimes trans related DTCs that need to be addressed, and/or a bump in idle speed to prevent surging, but a full dyno tune should not be required. I put a 3500 stall in my old '00 car with zero tuning, and everything was fine other than a slight idle surge (which went away as soon as I bumped the idle speed with LS1Edit). The '01+ cars are a bit more prone to tossing certain trans related DTCs after a stall, but these can be resolved with basic, non-dyno tuning.

Install price on a stall is usually somewhere between $150-300, depending on location and shop.

PS. You would definitely need some tuning for gears, to correct the speedo and shift points, so it's not like doing gears instead of a stall would save you on tuning costs.

like mentioned before, it's the wheel hop that takes em out. Invest in suspension upgrades like lower control arms and a good torque arm to control wheel hop.

the 10 bolt will last for a while...the weak link is the spider gears / pin in my opinion....some day you will lean on it and it will break, the spider gears / pi will gald then the pin will break.
