Default General question on tuning

I am bringing my car to my tuner to get the egr, and skip shift tuned out. He wants to slow down the fans for some reason as well. Has anyone else heard of this?

Slow the fans down?

There is already a low speed setting, I can't imagine why anyone would want a slower speed than that, nor did I think that tuning was even able to change the actual speed of the fan (only the on/off temps as far as I know).

I know I have never heard of it before.

Sounds like you either misunderstood your tuner something fierce...or he has no idea what he is talking about. If my tuner sounded unknowledgeable about my car and wasn't familiar with things you should or shouldn't change then I would change tuners. I see in your sig you have basic bolt-ons why not just get a mail order tune from frost. I have heard great things from his mail order service and its in all likelihood cheaper than a dyno tune.

No such thing as too early on these radiator-limited cars.
Beware of mystery clownage. And no tuner locking!

Yeah but they said they charge 100 for any codes. Thats why I was confused on the "turning down the fans" lol

they cant slow the fans done. its on a off and on switch (relay) and a temp sensor for the ecu. they can turn them off and on sooner and later. but thats it and i would send it out for a mail tune. prob cheaper. and i would turn the fans on quicker from the stock setting.

I turn on sooner ( lower temp threshold) and leave on for a few minutes after car is shut off to cool it down between rounds
