2002 Camaro Interior vs. 2010 Camaro Interior
So I have a 2002 Z28(not even an SS) with ebony interior and am I the only one that has noticed that the interior is 10x nicer than the new ones?
In my car I have nice leather seats, a nice leather wrapped steering wheel, leather shift ****, good petal placement, even the spot where my elbow hits the door to shove it open is soft touch leather. I know there is a lot of cheap plastic in f-body interiors, but they got the touch spots right, and the gauges are clear and concise.
The new camaros on the other hand have tiny windows, and huge a pillars so you get less visibility than a tank, and everything except the seats and wheel is cheap thin shitty plastic...and the shift ****...while being leather covered is the most ignorant shape ever. Who thought flat sides was a good idea on a shift ****?
The seats aren't awful but no better than my 02...I mean how can an interior be this much worse with almost 10 years to improve it?
I really want to like these new camaros because i've always been a chevy guy, and I will be commissioning as an army officer shortly and i will be looking to upgrade to a newer pony/muscle car but I just can't really find anything about these that I like...guess it's going to be ford or dodge unless I can afford a vette.

Take a look at the new Mustang. Its better than the new Camaro. I've driven both. I'll take the Mustang. I had a 2010 Mustang rental for a few months and loved it. I test drove a 2011 Camaro and didn't like it. The Mustang has: better interior, better radio (with Microsoft Sync), better visibility, better ride, and overall better feel.
The new Camaro is style over substance. GM failed with that interior. I really don't like the center layout of the radio and HVAC.

I agree that the Camaro interior is pretty awful looking. It's far to gimmicky, I'd MUCH rather have an 02 camaro than a new one. I feel disloyal too but if I had the money I'd go for the new 5.0 all day long. Plus the launch of the new camaro utilizing that shitty movie Transformers still pisses me off, lol

I know they were going retro with the new Camaro, but I'd expect some improvement in 44 yrs other than added electronics. I prefer retro-futuristic which is a blend of retro & futuristic style. Plus I also like having a designated separate area for the radio and HVAC instead of it all being blended together into a chunky blob.
I hate how today's radios are so integrated into the cars computer and HVAC. IMHO, the stereo system should always be completely independent of the PCM/BCM/HVAC so that it can be later changed/upgraded.

just because they wanted to go retro style doesn't mean they did shitty interior on purpose. Noone in their right mind will believe that...it's because GM is financially in the ******* this decade and can't afford to really put anything decent in there.
I have lost all brand loyalties to be honest. I really like the new mustangs...especially the boss 302, and I like the new dodge ram's over a silverado by far. GM has been ****** up hard the last 10 years in my opinion...their interiors went to ****, engine choice limited to basically that one crappy 3.5 v6 in every car, nothing with a manual, and overall lack in build quality. Everything is an afterthought.
Ford on the other hand as VIP1 mentioned(and he is right!) has really made leaps and bounds of progress in their interiors, and their engines. New mustangs are ballin, raptors are pretty decent trucks, even the new taurus's and what not are pretty sweet.

The Taurus is way too big for what it is. It has dimensions close to a SUV but its a 5 passenger family sedan.
I've seen pics of it side-by-side next to the previous generations and its significantly larger. Just look at it parked next to other cars in a parking lot and you'll see what I mean. I have a rental Taurus now. It rides nice, has decent performance and is comfortable, but its over-sized. There is plenty of wasted space and added girth.

I think Im one of the few that thinks the 97-02 Camaro interior is a great design, and I do agree, I like it better than the 5th gen. I don't dislike the inside of the new Camaro, I just really feel more at home and more comfortable in the later 4th gens. Totally disagree on the seats though, the 4th gen Camaro seats are pretty horrid if you like the twisties. Theres an easy remedy for that though

now on looks alone I agree with you. the new interior looks modern but retro so that's ok, but the materials are pathetic! knock on the door panel sounds like hollow plastic, on mine look at the second pic. Sure most of it's plastic, but the place where your elbow hits to open it is leather and soft, the visibility in the new camaro is the worst, and when you compare with the new mustangs or challengers which is a much better comparison than 02 vs 10, it's no contest. Mustangs wheel and gauges are much better, seats are good, soft touch materials here and there, seemingly better build quality, and the dodge? forget about it...my step dad's new challenger r/t with cloth kills a camaro with leather even. Dodge's new interiors are ballin.

The new Camaro interior has decent materials and appearance.... except for the dash. Its style over substance. I'm not a fan of the steering wheel or gauges either.
The door panels and seats look fairly modern, but over-sized. The dash should have stayed in the 1960's.
Take a look at the new Mustang interior. It has retro cues, but its modern and lain out well. The Mustang's interior succeeds where the Camaro's interior fails.

As an ex officer myself, I am dumbfounded at your post...grammer, sentence construction, spelling, ability to communicate in a lucid, comprehensive manner...
If you are representative of the new US Armed Forces office corps...God help us!!
Don't give me any crap about about "battle proven", I've got three tours in SEA and 150plus missions over Laos...plus a stint with "The Company"...been there, done that...
I did not realize the standards had so eroded...
